According to the conversion manual my stock 4.3 V-6 radiator may work for a V-8, was wondering if any of you have tried to use this radiator and if what kind of success did you w/ it?

I shelled out the money for that vette radiator. I had some problems with something, I don\'t remember what exactly, but when I put everything back, the fan was too close. The motor tq\'ed and moved, fan tore it in half. I had the stock 4.3 radiator still laying around, so I threw that in. It is bigger(longer) and my truck ran consistanly 5 degree\'s cooler. I got some dual electric fans from Flex-o-lite Im gonna install on of these days for it too. It covers the entire radiator core perfectly, where as the vette radiator was too small. I\'ll see what happens after I ditch my mechanical fan and install the electric. I don\'t have a fan shroud, and I think thats why it gets hot sitting at idle for a few minutes. The thing that made the most difference in cooling was a bottle of Redline water wetter. Just pouring that in made a 10-15 degree difference. I also got a 180 degree thermostat, but now when Im driving my motor doesn\'t go over 170 degree\'s. Just wait till the electrics are on

Based on what ZZ4Blazer said, I\'m going to purchase a 4.3 radiator.

The question I have is do I want to use the one with the built in oil cooler? I\'m assuming so.

The setup I\'m planning on going with is a 4.3 radiator with 2 electric 12\" puller fans, a 180 thermostat, and some \"water-wetter\".

Well, everything\'s coming out this sunday again to work on my tranny. Still trying to get my 6 speed right. Anyhow, I\'ll have the fans installed when I put it back. So I should have results with the fans by next week. Its been like a constant 95 degrees\' here, so I\'ll be a good test for it.

Tricksten327, if you are running an automatic tranny, get one with the cooler. The cooler is for the tranny fluid, not oil. If your running a decently built motor, I\'d get an extra cooler too. The cooler the fluid, the better your tranny will be. If you\'ve got a manual, don\'t bother.

Looks like the Taurus fan is gonna do it, I let it run for about 20 min. in 90+ degree heat, and it cooled better than my 16\" aluminum 7 blade clutch fan did, way better in fact, only thing is that it draws like some crazy amount of power. I melted one of those cheap light up toggle switches! it was pretty sweet... think i should get the thermostat switch.

Try a relay and a toggle switch.

schitthedd,

I think I have a brand new vette radiator in storage. I\'ll dig it out and check it.

Send me an email if you are interested.

I am running the same fans, but mine are a puller, with the adjustable thermostat. I also added a 160 degree thermo. Yesterday, bout 75 degree\'s out, I was running at 155 down the highway. I have my fans set to turn on at 180 degree\'s, and most of the time I can drive around without them ever turning on.
