View Full Version : 1/4 mile E.T.
Since you guys would probably know alot better than me, what do you think an 87 S-10 with a standard cab, a short bed, a 350 making probably about 230-240 horse, and 300 ft. lbs of tq., a turbo 350 trans, 3.55 gears, and stock height tires would run the 1/4 mile in?
I don\'t want to set my hopes too high now by thinking that it will run faster that it actually will. Once I get it all together, I\'m going to run it around for a year or so, and then rebuild the motor and make some power with it. What kind of horsepower and torque do these things need to run in the mid 13\'s consecutively?

there are a lot of variables like traction and shift points but I would venture to guess low to mid 15\'s
Also considering that I\'m going to be running a mild compound tire and shifting at about 5500.

I would get your truck dynoed. or if you already know what the horsepower and torque curve look like and the cam,you can make the decision, and decide what rpm to shift at because you may have no power at that rpm, because I know my 305 loses power after 4500 so mine is set up to shift at 4500.

My 305 has only 200hp and about 250ft/lb torque if I am correct and I ran the quarter in 15.9 with my old turbo 350 with a burnt 2nd gear and it stack shifted and my fuel pump was screwed, I haven\'t tested it yet with the 700r4 and transgo shift kit and working fuel pump, but I would expect a 15.5 quarter.

Mine with 247hp at the wheels has run a 14.40
Not as quick as I had hoped for, but it is fast enuf to still have alot of fun with.

cool, what kinda tires were you running? also what elevation and how was traction?
I can\'t dyno it yet, because it isn\'t together yet. I just wanted to know about what to expect, so I didn\'t set my hopes too high.

probably high 14\'s - low 15\'s if all the conditions are right (traction, elevation, etc.)
My best guess would be that it takes around 320 hp in a truck like yours to run good into the 13\'s, that\'s just IMO.
