so i\'m using the stock in-tank fuel pump, and i want to remove the computer and all the wires with it. how do i get my in-tank pump to still work? i know there\'s 2 wires from the pump, power and relay i think. i\'m thinking power to the bulkhead, and relay to a keyed ignition source?

Theres a brown and white wire that runs to the factory oil pressure sending unit. Cut it and run it to a switched 12 volt source such as the accesories in the fuse box. It should run the pump whenever you turn the key on. Either that or reuse the factory oil pressure sending unit on the new engine. It has nothing to do with the factory ECM.

to the oil pressure sending unit? really? i\'m glad i asked, i\'d have never figured that out. so, i should be able to hear the pump running when i get power to it right? and it\'s just the one wire?

I always just cut that one wire and ran it dirrectly to the accesories in the fuse box. When you turn the key on you should be able to here the pump run. If your reuse the factory oil pressure sender in its entirety on the new engine it won\'t run the pump till you have oil pressure.

I\'m confused on this one. How does the oil pressure sending unit have anything to do with the fuel pump?

I need to get my in-tank fuel pump working also, but what was said above doesn\'t make sense to me. Could someone clarify this please? I don\'t want to go cutting unnecessary wires.

Electrical stuff is not my strong area. The way my luck runs with electrical, I\'d end up hooking the fuel pump to the horn and it would only work with the right directional on, the horn blowing and the brake lights on!

Never mind. I tried the brown and white wire to a battery source and it worked. Looking at the wiring diagram, I can see why. Now for the next question regarding this subject, do I keep the wire connected to the oil pressure sensor and to the fuel pump relay or just the relay?

the brown wire is for the preasure unit..

its so when the engine shuts off that the fuel stops, it actually controls the FP relay

the actuall wire to the FP is grey..

I replied to this to let the guy looking for the fuel pump wiring info see it. This is the thread I usede.

Alright so i have all my wires plugged into the o.p.s, do i have to turn my truck over... so it knows i have oil pressure?? then the pump will start? and is there any specific prong the wires have to go on?

my fuel pump starts when I turn the key on and I used the original plug for the sensor so i can\'t say about the prongs. I did this over a year ago, I\'m over fifty and suffer from C.R.S. (Can\'t Remember SH_T)

alriught eveyrthing is plugged in according to the diagram soo if i understand correectly i will need oil pressure for the switch to activate and let the fuel in?

My pump starts before I start the truck, so I don\'t need oil pressure. I may have possibly done something a little different than what the original thread said to do.

Between this thread and the way I said my wires are hooked up in your original thread, you should have your fuel pump working when you turn on the key.
