hey guys i bought my bro\'s 91 s-10 4.3 auto off him for a grand with 80,000 miles on it, anyways theres was some rust on it and i did all the body work and my uncle that paints for a livin shot it with that new electric green off the new mustangs.well just the other day my uncle from the other side of the family backed into the passenger side door! need to say that was pissed, but since imma fix it myself, i went and got an estamate and im going to make 1200$ off this deal and im going to do some upgrades to the outside. i want a cowl hood or that corvette one in the parts store! and now im going to have ghost flames put on it! but i want to know should i go with a steel cowl or fiberglass, and do the fiberglass ones come with the mounting areas in them already, and how strong are they ? im just worried that its gonna be brittle! thats too much money to be throwing away! or are the metal ones worth the $.

has anyone ever opened their stock hood... like really the stock steel hood is light so just go with a steel one... they are more duarble easier to paint and cheaper... so for what its worth i\'d go with a steel one. plus ghost flames are sweet... but can get real expensive really quick and aren;t exactly the easiest thing to do... i know from experience i just went through it all... it would have cost me over a grand to do just the hood of my truck... but sinc i know the painter at my local bodyshop really well we worked out a deal for 200 bucks... i had to do most of the work but it rurned out wicked... i just paid for materials.. plus i found something i like doing and now i\'m in school for autobody http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

I had a Cervini\'s fiberglass hood on my S-10 and it just never fit right compared to a factory hood and yes you can buy them bolt on or pin on. My Blazer has a Goodmark steel cowl hood and definetly fits way better than the fiberglass but they only make a 2 inch cowl hood you can see them both in my pictures.

I also have a HARWOOD hood. It\'s so nice to be able to open the hood and have the under side finished just like the top...smooth!
I\'ve seen the others and am glad I got the
HARWOOD hood.
Jeff....
I am not a fan of the Harwood hoods. In my opinion Goodmark, or Reflexion is the way to go. They fit better with my experiences. On most vehicles, including s10\'s and 3rd gen camaros\'s I have had to trim the cowl to work with the wipers. To me that is a pain, because I believe when I buy something that is supposed to fit, I shouldnt have to do any mods to it. My $0.02
