View Full Version : oil pan issues
I bought the 4x4 oil pan from this website, i believe that is a canton pan. the rear sump and dipstick will be fine but it is resting on the side of my diff. housing. what can i do. when i bought i thought there wouldn\'t be a problem. if the pan can be hammered in a little it would work. it only needs to be dented about a 1/2 in. i believe. i need to get the truck finished and back on the road. any advise/ help would be appreciated!

I didn\'t use a pre-made pan...I made one myself. As for the denting the pan, i would assume it shouldn\'t get in the way of the spinning interanls. I would suggest to dent the pan while it is bolted to the block so NOT to distort the pan gasket sealing surfacs. (Or you\'ll get a leak)
It actully sounds like the motor mounts are a problem. With the 2.8 mounts and the conversion block mounts there should be @ 1\" clearance. Mine has almost 2\". I cut the right side shock tower and moved it over 2 inches to make sure the steering, diff and exhaust would clear with no in vehicle mods required after install.
