im reading in the s10 manual and it says to slot the mount so you can move it to the passenger side so it improves manifold steering shaft clearence, well i got the hedman headers the wrap around the steering shaft...is altering the mount necessary since it goes around the steering shaft?
not really. maybe slot it so you can move it front to back.

i slotted mine so i could move it front and back and trimmed about 1/2 inch off the front of the crossmember by the hole for tranny pan clearance.

With those headers you shouldn\'t have to slot the mount hole like the other guys have said you may have to slot it foward or back. Once you have the motor and trans. in see where it lines up you really want everything to line up without having to force the engine over to the side or anything.

well yea im just sayin since i have the headers the the steering column goes through, i shouldnt need to move the tranny sideways toward the passager side because i have clearance on the shaft.

what i\'m lookin at is a floor shifter and leave the steering shaft where it\'s at. had a 5 speed...not sure about the column shifter though...might need clearance behind the left head...

slide it over anyway,if it hit the steering shaft you can go to a salvage yard and pick up an upper shaft from an astro van and will give you ample room http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

i didn\'t have to move the mount over at all... i used a 90 camaro 700R4 and the stock s-10 mount... it vbolted right in.. with the headers you won\'t have to worry about moving the steering shaft or anything but make sure on the colum shifter if yopu plan on keeping it.. where the linkage slides in by the firewall bend it back a little bit for head clearance... then it should work like a charm
