I got a good deal on a set of 230 runner iron eagle heads. Think they are to big for my 383? My cam is 257/262 .600 lift with about 11.5 compression
borderline to big but may work. Thing thats gonna hurt ya is that those heads flow close to 300 cfm @.600 lift out the box. Be prepared to wing on it. Might wanna step up to a big roller. personally id run it.

Yeah I thought I would have to step the cam up and change my rear gears. I am running a solid roller set up now .

heck yeah, i would run those things! thats a good sized motor, big cam, good compression, should make good power with those heads! i personally think that most people go too small on the heads. if you want to make good power, you have to have good flowing cylinder heads, however, the key to making good power is having the RIGHT size ports for your combo, and having them flow as efficiently as possible, its all about the combination-and yours sounds good. how many rpm are you planning on turning?

Yeah it depends onn how you plan to drive the truck....
your borderline IMO, and typically I would err to the smaller side on heads and cam. So you would be going bigger on both. But things change in a daily driver vs weekend warrior

It is definitely a weekend warrior. I think what I might do is trade them off. I got them pretty cheap and my motor is already built. I am running edelbrocks e-tec heads and I luv em
flow numbers dont mean jack if the velocity isnt there. With that cam im guessing its good to around 7k. If your willing to turn your motor 68-7200 those heads will make more power up top but will loose down low to the etecs. I called dart a while back for a head recommendation and they told me the 230s were designed for 400+ cubic inches .600+ roller camshafts. 383 is close but thats alot of head. Im running the 215s on a 330ish cubic inch motor and they work great, but i have a lil more duration than you, but way less lift.

I had the cam custom ground and he said it would pull to 8k but my bottom end will not stay together.
i dont see a 260 duration .600 lift camhaft making power to 8k. maybe in a 283. just not enough air.
