I have a 383 built with a eagle rotaing assembly. It has the Keith Black pistons in it. I was wondering how much I could spray to it. I am using a progressive nitrous controller.

You can shoot at least 100, possibly 200 if you have 4 bolt mains and the caps are quality. The crank starts to come away at the block at ~800lb/ft of torque that is why the caps are the next weak link. ALso watch for that controller, it will rob the overlall power of the kit. Just take it off once and use the kit and once without it. 200+ shot you need a controller, below it is a waste of nitrous

If it is the Kieth Black Hyperpneumatic watch very close for detonation. The make up of hyperpnuematic pistons make them really prone to detonation.

My old engine had the kb\'s in it 383. I sprayed it many times with a 150 shot never a problem. Tore it down to freshen it up pistons looked great. Keep a good eye on fuel pressure and timing you will be just fine.

The good part is that HyperU pistons are stronger than cast, but the bad part is they are more brittle, so they shatter easier under detination, and pre ignition will kill them even faster.
Before I say how much you could run, did you get the cast rotating assembly, or the 4340 crank and rods?
Either way 150 isnt a problem as long as you err on the rich side. Remember, pick your nitrous jet and leave it. Then keep ajusting your fuel jet from too big(on purpose) till you find the right one.
I talked to the guys at KB last year at SEMA and they swore their pistons could take as much nitrous as most of the forged guys. I was skeptical, but who wouldnt be....

isnt that the whole idea, to kill some power down low for gription or whenever you want to. All a controller does is modulate the solenoid. how is it wasting NO2???

I feel confident about a 150 shot. What I wanted to do was put a 200 shot in it and use the controler. it wouldnt be at 200 for the whole run.

your motor will be fine, now watch for the transmission and rear end. They are beaten up just as bad in this as the motor.

I am running a th 400 with a 9 inch rear. I think I will be safe in that aspect
