Does anyone have any idea what is the performance potential of propane?

sucks unless it is a diesel.
propane to a diesel is like nitrous to a gas eng.

are you talking about as an additive or as the main source of fuel?
i don\'t think you\'re really being accurate saying propane is to deisels as nitrous is to gas, because propane is flamable/combustable, and nitrous is neither. propane can be used as a main source of fuel whereas nitrous can\'t...I don\'t really know where you were going with that. But I know propane runs alot cleaner then gasoline does. performance wise i don\'t think propane can even compare to gasoline.

propane has a higher flash point than diesel therefore causing it to ignite faster than the diesel fuel during the compression cycle. when this happen it causes the diesel fuel to ignite faster and easier thus addding power. being a diesel it will take in large amounts of air on the intake stroke already. the biggest fuel upgrade in diesels usually starts by adding more fuel. a sniff of nitrous oxide on top of the propane will add a little extra oxygen to an already rich mixture and you will have alot of extra power.
nitrous is an oxygen source generating the same effect. but with nitrous more fuel should be added to counter a lean condition. more fuel and oxygen (at the correct ratio)in a cylinder creates more power.
now with propane it takes less of it to drive on in a gas motor than it does with pump gas. but the flash point is not as high as gas so it does not burn as fast. the main disadvantage is the weight added to the vehicle when you add the tank, hoses and the regulators needed. then you have to plumb all that to the air cleaner.
