Unlike humpty dumpty I was able to put all the pieces back together again! http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif Unless something drastic happens it is locked on for Aug. 20 to hit the track.

Midwestchopshop: The previous owner painted it, or at least had it painted. They did a very good job as there is no orange peel and very nice finish.
mtincher: I am looking for some mid 11 sec runs by the end of the first track day. Maybe if I manage that I can tune it to some low 11\'s the next couple times out. Main limiting factor is I don\'t have enough gear. I have 4.11\'s in it with 29.5 inch tire. I believe I will be going through the lights at about 5500-5800 rpm?. Just need to get it on the track so I can figure what gear I need to go through the lights at about 6500-7000. Thinking 4.56 or 4.88?
Scotty:I\'d change the title to \"competition view\" - I like that, it is tagged and insured.. Wonder if I will have trouble finding a takers at the stoplights?
largekid: Just for you

Wild, Grim figures if he stacks them up high enough, they\'ll be nearer the \"jetstream\". http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif But really, the more filter area, the less restriction.
......... There is a guy I see at the track all the time, who laughs at me whenever he sees me pulling off my airfilter and replacing it with a piece of screen, same size as my paper filter. He always says: \"you DO know that the 800+ HP NASCAR guys just use a 4\" paper air filter, don\'t you?\"

They don\'t make a 6\" tall filter in the shape I need. So I use a 2\" and a 4\". With the scoop if I just use just the 4\" filter it sits to low. The incoming air is directed right to the top of the filter, which is a solid piece of aluminum. With the 2\" filter under it it puts that solid top plate at the top of the scoop and all air is forced right through the filters. I looked for about 7 hours online going through all types of filters looking for a 6\" that would work and there isn\'t one.
P.S. K&N has the new filters that fit right into the hoop scoop opening now, but they won\'t fit the bolt on scoop. Maybe when they expand the line they will make one to fit and solve my problem.

If that thing pulled up beside me at a stoplight...........I\'d slump down in my seat and mind my own business!

but your running 1/8th mile right? from the times grim predicted i think hes running 1/4. my truck was turning 7400 about 300ft before the traps in the 1/4. thats on 4.56s and 28 inch tires.

The filters with the flow through top are only availible in round style right? Because of the design of my carb pan I use a 9\" x 17\" oval filter. (the pan is 9 1/2\" wide) If I ever redo the pan I will make it so i can run a 14\" round filter and use the flow top like you have Marky.
