I was driving down the highway at about 6000 RPMs. That is about all I can get out of it. I started seeing smoke out my back window and I slowed it down. I use synthetic oil and it has not done this before. I have stock heads that have been ported. What do you think happened? It seems to be fine after running it about 100 miles. I could have floated the valves, but would that make it smoke? I can\'t say it was oil smoke, but I have not seen synthetic burn before.

You say 6000 rpm but how fast were you going? I think if you were doing like 60 or more it would have had to been a lot of smoke for you to see it out the back window. It just dissapates so fast at that speed. Were you running it pretty hard for a while? I would guess maybe some oil got on the exaust or motor and was burning off. Maybe a seal, gasket, PVC valve? If you were running it hard and the oil was really hot it will get very thin and can leak form wierd places. It doesn\'t take much to create a lot of smoke if it is on the exaust. I had a 4x4 pour it out the rear main after I ran it really hard once climbing a hill. But is stopped after it colled down. I don\'t think it was anything internal wrong since it quit. Usually if ya broke something it stays broke.

When I am at the track, 6000 rpms is about 110 mph at the 1/4. I was running it hard.

Yeah, I\'m thinking like Grimpuppy, @ 110 or so, you\'ve got to have a lot of smoke to see it in the mirror. How does it run now?
What\'s chances you puked some (a lot) oil on the headers or extensions? (From engine OR trans....)

It seems to run fine.

at 6000 rpm\'s your building alot of crankcase pressure. i would bet you were sucking oil in your pcv system.....

if your not running any type of evacuation system. the presure can get so high and start blowing out any cheaper non baffled valve covers

I think I was pulling oil from the PVC. There is no sign of oil on the outside of the engine. I used quality parts, but I could have done a better job with the design.
