Reverse Lights on Auto to Stick

89 S15 Jimmy, switched from 700r4 to NV3500. How do I go about getting the reverse lights to work when I pop it in reverse? When I pulled the steering wheel, I saw how the wiring in there made the reverse lights work with the column shifter. Is there a way to wire that up to the transmission somehow or is there something entirely different I've got to do? The only wires I see on the tranny are 2 that plug in, its my assumption that those are for the speedo. Anyone know what I do here?

Under the dash, the wires that you had found for the PRNDL swtch have to be hooked to the switch on the tranny.

I believe the one on the left side of the tranny towards the front is for the reverse lights. The one on the back of the trans nearest to the driveshaft should be for the speedo.

There should be 2 sets of wires on the prndl switch. One set is the neutral saftly switch. The other is the reverse lights. Run 2 wires over to the swtch on the tranny and you'll have them working

Thanks Space, I'll get under and take a good look at that tomorrow. It's going to the shop for new brake lines and exhaust this weekend and thats one of the only little loose ends I've got to tie up.

Hey space--- on that note-- i need to hook up my reverse lights to my mega shifter-- truck was a 5 speed-- can u instruct me?> thanks dennis

It shouldn't be too bad to do. The wires that went to the reverse switch nned to be re-routed back into the truck. and hooked to the switch on the shifter. There should be 2 plugs on the shifter. 1 for the neutral saftey switch and the other for the reverse lights. You could use a mutli-meter to check which is which. Or you can hook one set up and then try the other. If the wrong plug is used the reverse lights will come on when imn park or netruel.

I pulled a couple guides from B&M. step 13 is the most descriptive.

I got it now. I forgot to mention that my truck is a 4x4. It looks like the plug for the speedo is on the transfer case, and the only plug on the tranny is for the reverse lights.
