holy crap this is bugging the crap out of me!

Sitch-e-ation: Turn wipers on...low...no work....high...no work....off...off.

I figure its the motor so I pull the wiper motor off my unfinished blazer...it doesn't work either.....I hooked my DMM (multi-meter) up to the "low" (while on low) reads 12.3V, same results on "high". I then think well it should work I am getting the proper voltage to it, I'll get a new motor...well THAT doesn't work either. So that leads me to believe I have a bad ground because the switch works, and I am getting proper voltage to it....

So I bet you are thinking...."he has a ground problem" You are right...but if you have noticed the wiper motor is not connected (ground wise) to the body, its separated by rubber standoffs.

What in the world can I do?

If you look closely at those rubber mounts you should see a flexable ground strap running around one of them, that would be your ground when bolted to the firewall... Check to see if you have continuity with a v.o.m. between the wiper motor case and the firewall or chasis... If you have a bad ground, I would check for that ground strap I mentioned above, also check for loose bolts, clean the bolts if rusted and believe it or not painting stuff can also cause a bad ground at those bolts... I have had bad grounds at alternators because brackets were painted before... If you have intermitent wipers, they are notoriuse for having a bad electronic delay circuit board inside, just get another from the junk yard in that case...

when i got my blazer there was a wire ran from the wiper motor to the brake line via a two gater clips. i did nt know why so i took it off the woman said the wiper didnt work . i put back on and it works . so put a ground wire on it my buddys z 71 did the same thing

Did you check the wiper motor voltage when the wiper switch is in the off position? Some circuits are hot all the time and the switch just supplys a ground for the circuit. Just a thought ran into that with an electric fan bypass switch.

damn grounds....

I took jumper cables and hooked them up to my (-) and then hooked it to the wiper motor housing....flipped the switch....zap.....it worked. NOW tomorrow (after fixing my girlfriends blown head gasket) I will run a wire from that to the chasis.

Hope that helps someone!
