Is cutting the ac box a must on a v8 conversion??? 1992 s10 (small block chevy with stock valve covers)

Only did 1 that had an ac box. Ended up cutting the corner out of the box. Took some sheetmetal and made a filler panel. Just becareful when cutting into an ac box because if you cutt to far or to deep it could be a hazzard for the ac core.

After engine installed (http://tinyurl.com/2cfttc) there's plenty of engine clearance. I do need to move engine about 3/4" more to pass side, F150 steering shaft has minor contact with exhaust shrouding.
