I first bought a 91 S10 2.8 5 spd from my friend for $200. He said it had a "blown" engine. After replacing the coil and starter I drove it for about a month. It had 270k miles on it, original motor. Clear coat was chipping, rusted out cab corners, rear fenders were rusted out, and had a couple of dents.

Then I seen an add for a 95 S10, $1000, blown motor. I called the guy up and see if he wanted to trade for a 91. He was thrilled, and now I have a 95, short bed, 2 wheel drive S10 that had the 2.2 5spd. It has the newer s10 alloys and is lowered 3 inches all the way around.

The engine was blown, there was a hole in the #4 cylinder. I pulled it out and couldn't find a 2.2 anywhere... But my friend had a 305 Vortec.

He told me I could have it if I put it in the truck. So now it is my future 350 truck, but for now a free 305 vortec will work. I bought a rebuilt NV3500 with the large out put shaft for $150 from some guy parting out his 1500, and I bought a 750 dual line Holley and a performer intake for $100 from a friend. Soon I will be making an order for the radiator, headers, fuel regulator, motor mounts, possible new springs seeing they were cut to lower it, and a few odds and ends for this project. I hope it will be finished by the middle of next month. I will post some pics as soon as I get some.
