OK, here's the first of many additions. I bought a 2001 Jimmy with a super clean body and interior that had been repo'd. Bad part is the tow truck driver took it from a repair shop while the engine was out for repair! Bank was pissed! I'm not though! So, I bought a 383 from the owner of Kansas City Speedway, 425hp on pump gas and Im getting ready to drop it in. trying to make a descision on trans. I like the old turbo 400 which I happen to have a spare, but really would like a t-56 6 speed. Seems like a great way to go, but man are they proud of 'em! A 700r4 or a 4l60 seems ok too, but I am wondering about computer and shifting. Ideas on how to bypass the computer for the trans, etc? I am also pricing a rear 4 link or ladder bar set-up, and although I'm kinda tight I may go with a tub job. Anyone done it on a Jimmy or Blazer here? I've done a few for other cars, but any info is appreciated.

Glad to hear you got a nice truck for a steal of a deal. I bet that 383 is gonna make that thing sing. As for the tranny, you can only use 1 at a time. There are stand alone computer kits avalible for the auto trannys your interested in using. Banging gears in with the 6 speed sounds like fun though.

The parts store here has a v8 installation guide in it. IT has lots of info on part types needed to do several different engine and tranny combinations.

Space.
