I put a 1994 lt1 in my 1999 s-10,used a wiring harness, have not had the lt1 computer redone yet,I put in a vats bypass module,I am trying to get it to start for the first time,it will turn over okay but it fired once and now it will only backfire and not start any ideas?as far as I know all wiring is correct but did not send a diagram ,it has 40 lbs fuel pressure

I would start by checking individual components. Start easy, have a friend squirt some starting fluid in the throttle body while you crank the motor over. If she fires off, then it's likely fuel issue, no start, pop or any signs of life start checking ignition.

My 94 LT1/86 S10 is almost ready to go. I too have starting problems, my engine will start right away, but then die quickly after about 3-4 seconds.

Here is a link to some pics of my swapPhotoBucket page (http://tinyurl.com/yvvu88) and a short video showing my starting issues.

Hope to be calibrating the local Sheriffs Laser gun later this week:burnout:

That's an easy one! http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_idea.gif Just turn your key one, place some rags around the threaded male fitting near the fuel pressure regulator and use the tip of a screwdriver to purge your fuel system. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

When I was ready to start for the first time, I disconnected the fuel line from an inline filter I added to just before the LT1 quick connect fitting and cycled the ignition key about six times to fill the filter. As soon as I had fuel dripping I reattached everything and about three starts later my engine came back to life after a year sitting on it's stand http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_headbang.gifhttp://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_headbang.gif

update,I tried the starting fluid,it will start on that, I bled the fuel system more and it will run but I have to squirt fuel in to keep it going, now it will run on its own for a few seconds,I have one vac* line from the optispark thats not hooked up and I do not know where its suppose to go,some of these lines were unhooked when I got the engine, the vats bypass module seems to be working fine, thanks to the guy who told about it on the site,I forgot who it was,I have not changed the fuel pump its a stock 2.2 for a 99 I do not know if it will put out enough for the lt1,I am getting closer to joining the tire-fryingclub http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

check to see if the pump is pumping. If not, your pump may not be receiving a signal to operate.

Thanks bigjoe,I know it runs when the truck is not running, but can not hear it when its running,I think the vats may be cutting fuel to injectors after initial start,I am waiting for a pcm tuneup to be returned, hopefully this helps
