For some reason, my Mallory 685 box took a crap on me. It is making a faint sizzling sound inside the box. When I try to crank the engine it pops back through the carb and will not crank. It catches fire in the carb, so I'm pretty sure the firing is happening at the wrong time!! Before the box went out I was topping off the battery and had the cables removed from the battery. When I went to reinstall the cables the positive cable fell out of my hand and hit the truck bed and made a spark!! WTF? The battery had been disconnected for awhile and the positive cable had current in it without being connected to a 12V source. Seems like a capacitor or something to me??!!

What ya'll think? Mallory says send it back and 2-3 weeks later I should get it back!

You don't have it boxed up yet? http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif Send it to them and let them fix it up. Even if they don't find anything wrong with it, you can eliminate that as the problem.

Meanwhile, slap a junkyard HEI in 'er, and see what happens.

Oh, I have a back-up MSD 6A box but no rev limiter, and that's kinda scary with the way my truck is set up. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif
