Ok, I have some littles questions that will help me much !!

I have a 85 blazer 2wd and want to put a 350-700R4. I bought the install kit of this site ( motors mounts, corvette rad and ceramic headers ). In the s10 conversion book, they talk about installing the engine about 1/2'' rearward to help for rad clearance and move it ( i don't remember the mesurement ) thru the passenger side to help for manifold clearance. Well, on the exaust forum, some of you said that there is a clearance probleme on the passenger side when we are running headers... So, is someone know where is the best ''place'' to put it with less modifications ?? ( personnaly, I don't like the hammer !!! ).

In another way, if i set the engine back about 1/2'' to help for my rad/fan clearance, will I need to sort the driveshaft ??

Thank you

Is someone speaking french on this site ??

S10V8.COM sells the setback plates 1/2" for the rear axle.

For best clearance on a 2wd with shorty headers, I would place the engine all the way towards the driver's side.

Do you plan on moving the radiator to the forward position? If you put the radiator in the forward position, you will not need to move the motor as far back.

Do not worry about the hammer, I put my motor all the way back in the mounts, and you can't even notice the hammering.

Also, your english is easy for me to understand, but my job requires me to email people who speak english as a second language on a daily basis.

I find that the easiest way to communicate for someone who is writing a message in language they are not confident in is to divide every idea or thought into a different paragraph and to number any questions you have, like in my example below.

1) Where is the best position for a motor in a 2wd blazer with shorty headers, in order to minimize any hammering?

2) If I have to move my moter back 1/2", will this require me to have to shorten my driveshaft?

Ok, thanks for the answers and the little english cours !!

If i set the engine at the same place of the v6( where the drive shaft does not have to be cut ) , will I be able to run a direct or clutch fan if i move the rad in the forward position ??

I do not know whether or not you would be able to run an engine driven fan with it in that position, maybe someone who has an engine driven fan could tell you more.

But, why do you want to run an engine driven fan? With a good electric fan setup, you should have no cooling problems. I run Spal dual 11" fans and the corvette radiator, and I have no cooling problems even in 100 degree Fahrenheit weather.

good luck and keep asking questions!

Hi! That's just about the same conversion I did. Mine is a 307 with 700R4. I was able to retain the original fan, etc. from the 4.3 that as in my '91 S10 Blazer. And I was able to do it without cutting the driveshaft. I move the radiator into the core support after modifying the core support to fit. I used the original Vortec radiator from the truck.

My motor is pretty much centered in the bay, and I didn't have any clearance issues with the headers I got from this site. I did have to hammer the trans tunnel to pick up some bellhousing clearance, and I modified the heater box to allow the motor to clear.

After 13000 miles on the conversion, I haven't had any problems with heat. It runs nice and cool, even when I'm stuck in traffic in the heat of summer, or towing a trailer up and down hills.

The most difficult part is modifying the core support to fit the radiator. That takes some time with cutting tools and a welder to do it right.

Good luck with the conversion!

I have my 355,700R4 set back as far as I could get it without relocating the rear end a 1/2", Corvette rad in the forward position, 4.3 V6 accessory brackets and plenty of room for flex or clutch fans:

In that picture I have a 2" spacer and an 18" Flex-a-lite wide blade flex fan mounted on a short C4 Corvette water pump, I would also like to note that this short pump is mounted with two 3/8" spacers and two gaskets each to the block and uses the Corvette serpentine pulley, I have 2" clearance between the fan and the radiator... It only changes about a 1/2" if you go with a long pump (3/8 to be exact the way mine is set up) and if you use a 1 1/2" spacer you can achieve the same thing with a long pump, I plan on using a clutch fan when I get my A/C hooked back up... I also don't have to worry about any extra load put on my electrical system by an electric fan system...
