I just finished the wiring on my swap. Im having a problem with the starter. When i go to start it the starter gear turns very slowly but does not throw the gear out to engage the flywheel. Im thinking the solenoid is bad in the starter but thought it could be low battery voltage.

could be either---Is engine grounded ?

Yes. Its got the ground from the -battery post to the alt bracket.

All connections tight? Check charge of battery

Could be a bad solenoid.
