Hi Guys,

Anyone use this type of fan control? It has the probe that goes in the radiator fin. I'm running a 160 thermostat. I think the ones that screw into the manifold are probably more accurate but I can't seem to find one in my temp range. The lowest one I see is the "on at 180* off at 170*". With a 160* they should come on at 170* and off at 150*. I don't think they make those. So I was thinking of using this Hayden one. It has the adjustable thermostat. Let me know your thoughts or if anyone had good or bad results. Thanks in advance.

My first V8 S10 had a sensor probe in the radiator fins, they do work very accurately, just remember it's turning fans on and off according to radiator temp not engine temp... As far as a 160 stat, I'm running one in my present 355 V8 S10 just for the simple reason that it starts cooling sooner, I have a Corvette water pump and radiator, full coverage fan shroud, 18" Flex-a-lite wide blade flex fan and mine runs around 180 all the time unless we have some cool weather here in Florida, then I think a few times it was around 170 while cruising but no lower... I kind of doubt that you will be able to get your fans to turn off at 150 degrees unless it snows in Hawaii... http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif I think a 180 or 185 on and 170 off would be just fine with the 160 stat, my2c...

I agree with 355V8S10Tahoe above. Also, if you have the fan shut off below the thermostat opening temp, you unnecessary cycle the tstat closed and open every time the fan cools to below 160 deg.

Hey sounds like someone else I know....

You understand that your t-stat is supposed to open right? It starts to open at 160 if you have a 160 stat. And your going to try to cool it back to the point of closing it???

Why would you ever want your engine to run so cold?

You made alot of sense. I'll get the on at 180 off at 170.Thanks again.
