My uncle ran a 76 chevy luv with a 7.5 10 bolt s10 rear with lift bars. He ran 6.76 in the eigth, i dont know what that converts to, but it was pretty fast. He ran it with the 10 bolt until he started breaking axles.

I don't think I could ever get mine to hook on stock suspension. Besides I like my stuff low. I had to go with some drop leaves and then Lakewood bars to keep axle wrap in check with the 3" blocks. I definately had to have the adjustable shocks up front and taller lower rate springs for weight transfer. Removing the front swaybar helped too.
BTW - I see caltracs on that truck, I don't think those came "stock" LOL

Stock suspension means bolt on parts only. Caltracs. Lakewoods, and lift bars, would all be considered stock suspension and are legal in any stock suspension class.

i have personally seen some 9 second s10s with stock rear leaf springs and ET streets!
my buddies s10 has an 8.5" rear with 4.11s,clamped leaf springs, rear end has -3ยบ pinion angle and runs 10.40s with a 355!

so is it wourth spendin 2 grand on a 4 link with a narrowed 9" rear etc etc? Or use the stock suspension with caltracs lakewoods and lift bars? and just spend it in the motor and I would run 9's? What size tire should I run?

If you have a 7.5" 10 bolt and you want to go as fast as you say you do, you need at least a 8.5" 10 bolt rear. Or a 9" ford cut to stock width. Some people use 8.8" ford explorer rear ends. Just not exactly what I wanted. 9" ford parts are everywhere and relatively cheap. So I figured if I got to spend allot of money, might as well have something I can get lots of parts just about anywhere. So 9" ford it is for me.

lol kinda but i dont mind spending the $ on the 4link ya know..I mean the truck isnt going anywhere so why not do it...I mean the motor alone will cost an arm & a leg so... whatever....ehhh what 2 do!! lol
its all in what you wanna do. If your goal is low 9s, high 8s then stock suspension will do that. Its all in what you want, we cant make the decision for ya.

I hope you have DEEP pockets...It cost bucks to go fast....and if you have never been in the 9's or 10's even, it not that easy to drive much less have the right combo. There was a guy braging the other night about having 600hp, it wouldn't hook for crap and my 410hp truck out ran him. You got to get it to the ground. Good luck in which ever way you go.
it wont take near as much money using nitrous. your basic 350 with alot of nitrous will go low 9s...heh

750 shot NP.. LOL....That will work on stock rods and crank right. :)

not many people trying to build high 8 second rides with stock crank and rods. My basic 350 and others may be different. I wouldnt run a cast crank and stock rods in a daily driver, but thats just me.

I was joking LOL. Myself I wouldn't spray over 150 on stock sbc internals unless it a Ford they seem to eat that stuff
id spray a chevy way harder than a ford. 4 head bolts per cylinder on the ford worries me.

Generally speaking, OHYO's got it right on both counts.
* Need DEEP pockets to run 9's regularly, not only for the bulletproof parts, but for the "replacement" parts as well.:s19:
* It kills me with the guys bragging about how fast their shit is, waving around dyno sheets. Ask them for a time slip......... nooooooooo, never actually raced it..........
whoa scotty way to kick em in the beans, heh. Wonder how much power my junk does make????

You would have to be making around 1100 at the fly give or take. How much are you spraying?

my boss is running a sbc no power adder making around 740 to the fly wheel and running 9.20's/9.30's he will be in pinks all out in july? And this is a project I dont need deep pockets lol....My old mustang I needed deep pockets =)~ and for chassis work I will spend 2k and my friend went to skool for chassis shit and I will have him weld everything up for me... As for the motor yes that will need alot of attention....Im either doin a nitrous motor or a single turbo i have no clue but most of the work is bein done by me and my friend so thats $ saved right there...I wont have any trouble planting power to the ground...
