Ok I have a 90 GMC S15 Jimmy 2wd 2dr 4.3V6 AC and Heat 700R4. I want to do a LS1 or LS2 swap with AC and Heat.

I know I need the motor and computer with a harness made. Should I swap the tranny with either swap?

Also what motor mount kit will work and what do i need for the oil pan and headers? Also would I need anything else?

What modifing do I need to do to the body and frame to make this work?

Im doing this all on my own, so can anyone thats done this before help me out with questions and places to get info on how to do it? Thanks for the replys.

deception, I am presently in the latter stages of my own ls1 s10 build. You can look at the photos I have of some progress along the way. I don't know exactly how to copy pics from photobucket but my whole s10 album is on there from when I took out the 4cyl, to putting in the 86 IROC 305, to changing my mind to go with the LS1. My truck is 1987 2wd short bed pickup. Oil pan I used was a 2008 colorado. 2008 hummer H3 is the same pan. Gives you good clearance. Look at my pics! Gotta run for now, but I'll be back at my PC in a lil while.... Bout 9pm Michigan time.

You can use the 700r4 but it will require a custom tv bracket and detent cable that adds up to about half the cost of a 4l60e

Hey in the same spot as you but mine is 4wd for engines or a wiring harness check out www.mastmotorsports.com they have engines and engine control packages that are great no need to go through the tangle of stock harnesses. I'm having a problem with the 4wd part is there a header problem?

Only problem I know of is that ( I don't think) no one makes LS headers for the 4wd chassis.

I've seen a few posts about LS/4wd headers lately, maybe if you all would contact Sanderson, they will design a set, or three.

Got my LS1/4L60E swap completed. Taking it to the Muffler Man 10-23-08 to get the exhaust pipes ran from headers to tail. Spintech mufflers are what I went with. I'll try to upload this sneek peek video clip of my s-dime so you all can have a quick look at it.
