I just bought an '85 s10 with a 350 in it. Im in the process of removing the engine thats in it to put another 350 in with more power. Everything was going smoothly until i went to take the steering shaft out. How does it come out? And do the headers come off before or after the engine comes out? Thanks for the help, ill resume my project tomorrow.

you will have to remove the retaining bolts on each end of the steeering shaft, one by firewall and one by steering unit and collapse the shaft to remove it. you can remove the header either before or after you pull the engine out but it may make it easier to pull the motor if you pull them before lifting the engine out so they are not in the way.
