Anybody seen any lightweight Rally (Rallye) wheels?
* I've got 15X8 GM Rally wheels on the front of my truck. They weigh a ton. More precisely, with the 275-60-15s on it now, they weigh about 55 lbs. each.
* I really like those deep 8' Rally wheels, and everybody else seems to like them. Plus they seem to go well with the sleeper look that I try to maintain. I could be talked into Drag-Lites... I like that look on the older trucks...... but that'd kill the sleeper look.
* A couple years ago I saw a story somewhere online where a guy made his own fake lightweight Rally wheels........ He used a certain style aluminum wheel, made a plastic insert to mimic the slotted portion of the Rally rim (the part that shows) using just hand tools & heat gun, and the story also showed how he fastened the beauty ring and center cap to the aluminum wheel. Do you think I saved the link? or printed it out? Not a chance. And I've googled that subject every possible way, no can find.
............. So, any ideas?

BTW, the 10 year old tires are dry rotted.... so since it's time for tires, figure it might be time for some rims.......

Wheel vintiques has a billet rally wheel----- PRICEY-- not sure about the weight. I went to weld draglites on my truck. I still have the chrome rallys i got from Wheel vintiques. As for the sleeper look. I like that also but, these rear tires and that 4 inch cowl hood kinda gives it away if ya know what i mean.

Check out American Racing Salt Flat Special style wheels. They are not rallys, but I think they are about as sleeper as you will get in aluminum without a hefty price for a custom set of wheels. They have a painted center and polished outer lip. Have you checked out the price of wheels lately?? Prices have almost doubled in the last year.

Thanks for all the thoughts, guys. All good ideas, except for ADH383s find.....:nono::icon_razz: I checked out those BILLET Rally wheels some time back. Besides being crazy expensive, I think they only come in 17"+ sizes.

I'll keep y'all posted.......

I found, quite by accident, what I think was the link I saw a couple years ago and couldn't find again...... I DID have it saved, right where you'd think it belonged.

So here's the link to a guy who made his own aluminum Rally wheels..... not exactly as I remembered it.... but not too far off.

Damn, that's a lot of specialized work, precision lathe stuff. You got a lathe or milling machine? Lots of labor too, and some real hokey crap like the pvc fittings to hold the center on. I think you could find a better solution.
