I finally had a chance today to get some pictures of the progress I've made in the past few weeks.

I got my newly fabbed rear fenders on (aluminium brite tread), light holes drilled and clearance lights installed, bumper made, brackets welded on, painted and mounted. Also hung the mud flaps...still debating on what for weights I want. I made up some aluminium flat bar weights, but leaning towards buying those "naked ladies" mud flap weights.

After about 16 years, I finally got my S-Blazer receiver hitch back from my Brother, for $25.00 (we swapped my '87 4x4 for his '85 2.2 Charger GLS non-turbo). Cleaned it up and painted it to match the frame rails. It tucks up behind the tube bumper real nice.

Also got some pics of the Suzuki Esteem wagon seats that I got a few weeks back (seats, headliner, visors, and a glove box door for $90.00). They bolt up the the stock S-series bucket sliders, but they space the sliders about 2" farther apart side to side, so I've still got some fabbing to do before I can start on carpet and center console.

Here's a few teasers, be sure to check out the rest in the Gallery:

looks like your making good progress. What was the reason you went with a wood bed? Good craftsmanship.

Geez, you're an ace fabricator AND cabinet maker.
Nice!

Nice bumper work, my brother made one something like that for his jeep, only capped them and used them as air tanks for an on board compressor. :headbang:

I am digging the stacks! You don't see that on trucks much! I like the whole setup tho. Looks like it would be perfect for towing a matching strip only S10 on a trailor to the track :D

Looks good! Real good!
How much clearance between the ground and the pipes once it sits on all fours? From one of the pics it looks rather low.
Don't forget the clear for protection.

Thank you all for the positive comments.

Reason for the wood bed: Originally it was just because my stock bed had rust in the mounting hats, (right front U channel was completely gone, and the rest were close behind...and these parts are not available, so I'd have to have them formed anyway.) and across rear sill (nearly $200.00 part). The more I looked and sketched and looked...the more I started to really like the look I was coming up with...You have to admit...it's different...so I drew up some plans, took some measurements, photoshopped some mock ups, and off I went.

Ground Clearance: I have just about 4" when it sits on level ground, just enough to stay above my "scrub line". Not sure if I've mentioned this before, but this is a salvage truck, and here in PA, I will have to have an "Extended Inspection" to get the truck re-titled, then a second, standeard inspection to get it registered, so I've been try'n to keep every thing 2 clicks above "legal"....:icon_lol:

Scotty: You joke, but I was actually a Cabinetmaker for 5 years professionally, and have been making "furniture" for quite a few more years than that. (one of my brothers owns a very well established, high end Cabinet/Furniture shop...so that helps). I'd like to do a solid Tiger Maple dash...but that is a (far) future project...after retirement maybe.

Ryoung: I had considered welding caps on the ends to make it into an air tank, but opted to leave it were I can put plastic caps (if I can ever find some) on the ends, and if I find the ass end to be too light (which it seems to be), I'm gonna add lead weights in the bumper.

AF-s10: ....I can picture that...but one at a time...it'll be awhile till I'm ready for another one (discussing with the wife about getting another '67 Camaro)...and it's tough to beat the mileage I get with my Cummins/Dodge "tow truck".

Clear for protection?: You mean clearcoat the paint, or the aluminium fenders?...I'm not real worried about the paint, it's just a "spray bomb" job to get her on the road...I'm going to eventually strip it to bare metal and do a professional repaint.

And THANKS again, for the positive comments, it's nice to hear someone else appreciates the "look" of my retro/hot rod/"truck". I have nearly as much time planning as I do building, and stay tuned...cause there's plenty more to come/go...Hood scoop and "lighted" sunvisor coming soon, LOTS to do on interior (started on the "keyless entry" today, and got my old skool Realistic 10 band EQ fitted in the ashtray:icon_lol:)

Not the paint being cleared. LOL! I meant the wood. But now finding out your a cabinet guy you knew that. Atleast make the bed the standout. Nice and glossy to match the alum treadplate.
Ah, Tigerleaf maple, I have a buddy that is refinishing an old up right piano that is made of that. Absolutly gorgeous!

lol...gotcha...

There is some debate over the "finishing" of the bed going on right now. I like the natural look, so I'd probably only seal it, but my Father says he would paint it to match the cab (every time he stops over to see how things are going!...:icon_lol:), and my Wife is undecided on clear or a stained color (I'm open to staining, but it'll take me a while to find a shade I'm happy with).

Looks really good. Stain yes, paint no. Stain is for wood, paint is for steel. Thats my 2 cents.

In case HardinValley stops by, I got a pic of "ground clearance" under stacks, and a pic of my "old skool" Realistic (Radio Shack) 10 band EQ mounted in the ashtray:

With such a lavish eq you better be using spark-o-static speakers. LOL! Just kiddin'.
Those are great lookin' door panels. Great work!
As for the stacks are they straight from the headers and out? If so I would like to "hear" a video if possible. Would bet it sounds good.

Spark_o_static....lmao....Nah, I got some Optimus (more Radio Shack) 8" 2-way boxes to put where the jump seats used to be...:icon_lol:

There are some other pics of the complete exhaust in the Gallery. It has a 2 1/4" dual inlet CAT with single 3" out...to a 3" in/out Summit Racing glasspack (4" case, acts as a 3"~4" adapter<stacks 4"~5" adpt./Y-pipe clamped to case>) that dumps into the 5" Y-pipe of the stacks.

I'll see about a sound clip....it does sound pretty good , but not nearly as loud as you might expect (I think the CAT quieted it down more than expected).
