Hey. I was wondering if anyone was running with flat beds? My original box was rotted out and i was thinking of going with a flat bed. And if you have one can you post some pictures? i've seen Stevo's and i really liked his.

From the brousing I've done in the Gallery, I think I'm one of the few.
And thanks for the positive comments, it's nice to hear someone else appreciates the "look" of my retro/hot rod/"truck"...:icon_lol:

I really like your truck. Alot more now that I'v seen what you did with the tubs in the rear. And it seems like alot of people on the forum at least appreciate the work you've done to it from the projects thread i seen the pics in.

I'll be honest, I am surprised, not at the kindness of my fellow members, but at the fact that several genuinely seem to like it. I really though, being as unusual as it is, it would be a "hard sell".
A few things I learned while building this bed:
Pressure treated lumber and aluminium do not mix. What I mean is when placing the two materials together, you must use a "barrier" between them, or the chemicals in the wood will "eat away" at the aluminium. I used roofing Tar Paper between ToolBox and bed, and will be putting either Tar Paper or rubber strips between fenders and bed sides.
Second: Use "epoxy coated" deck screws, to avoid "rust" and again, protect from the chemicals in the lumber.
If you need any help planning your bed, hit me up, I'll help if I can.

Well I have a pretty general idea from looking at your bed and what i've came up with i my head. I'll try to draw it out and scan it onto here to show you what im thinking. but if it ends up like im thinking it will be a harder sell then yours! :) And great info on the aluminum and treated lumber. I never would have known that.

I had one on one of my 1st s10's. I will look to see for a pic. Once I find it I'll post it. The trucks been long gone, but I still have the bed. I used it for the front porch. Treated lumber last a long time.
