Hey it's a solid platform to work with. It looks fine to me. Sure there are lots of cosmetic things, but that's part of the fun is customizing it to be what you want. Slap some paint on it and a few interior parts and you're set. At least you can drive it around in the time being. $2k is not a bad deal, most have that much wrapped up just in the swap.

first was the steering wheel so i found one laying around and put it on the other wheel was probably 8 inches wide and well not my style at all so when i get home i am changing it from the blue to a new black one i got
http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s216/thadddanddad/P1010073-1.jpg
then came the rust since i wasnt home very long i just wanted to stop the rust from getting any worse so i sanded it off and just shot primer on it

Well I know your pain, I bought my 87 s10 ext cab and they put a 91 grill on it but didn't put all the the bumper brackets on it they just put a few screws in the clip rigged the door locks and the door levers, they hide all this real good they put 275/60/15 all around with a 2" drop in the rear so when you turned left/right it rubbed the fenders, and now that I'm putting the V8 350/700R4 in I'm doing all right things and do it like it's was in 87 with a little twist of a hot rod look 205/60/15 front and 275/60/15 rear, so your not alone. oh I bought mine for 1800.00 and now I think I paid to much for it. But now we all can put the trucks the way we want too!!!!

when i get home i am going to paint it. i was going to pay some one to but the two people i had lined up backed out on me so i will just do it. i painted in high school.
p.s when doing racing strips its sucks bad when the tape doesnt hold and you end up straying half the hood. but thats more just F.Y.I

Nice progress so far.
That second steering wheel you have posted, (the blue one) where'd you find that? Looks OEM from something? I'd really like to find one of those. And those mirrors, where'd you get em? Reason I ask is I found some on ebay, extremely cheap. (about $25 a pair shipped) They're a little flimsy, but I'm not planning on touching them after they're on. They sure beat the gigantic trailer style mirrors that were on it. Here they are:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MIRROR-chevy-S10-PICKUP-S-10-85-93-truck-side-door-RH_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1713Q2em153Q2el1262Q QcategoryZ33649QQihZ013QQitemZ230303724942
I was probably gonna start a thread with pics since they were so cheap and look so much better.
I can't tell from the pic, but I reccomend spending the extra money on the ceramic coated headers if you haven't already.
Keep up the good work dude.

well i havent done an update for awhile but i have been very busy on the truck (sorry no pics) first off i moved to a new house and the truck did great when it was loaded down
second i had to replace the entire front suspion(spelled wrong i know) tie rod ends and sleeves, upper and lower ball joints, front springs, center link, pitman arm ,upper arm bushings, and had to remove the rear blocks
some one before me cut the springs and the alignment was all messed up so i finally got all that figured out and replaced
then i ordered drop spindles for the front and new blocks for the rear to get it sitting back where it should be sitting.
gave it a tune up finally i think its the first one it has ever had so that was a pain too cap rotor wires plugs ignition coil
then installed my new grill which wow looks alot better now
i will get new pics as soon as i can but its back to work on monday
looks like you have a real nice truck to start out with to make your own.im from western pa. and you just dont see older 10's that solid.they disintegrate here.if you saw what i started with youd say what was he thinking?
