I am shooting this towards the drag s10's but anyone can reply. What size motor are you guys running? And how does it do in a s10?

434 SB. Works fine except for traction. I would be better off with 400 hp instead of 625.

I'm running a 355ci small block chevy and it runs 10.80's in the 1/4 mile. I use hoosier 30x10.5x15 radials to get it to hook and it does hook nice.

This is kind of a loaded question.
I guess the correct answer is best given in the form of a quote from one of the best.

Huh? How is asking what someone else is using or how it performs a "loaded" question...and where did you get anything outta that question, about "how much it costs"?
I'm not try'n to bust your chops or nuthin, but with the really informative posts the other day about transmissions and gear ratios, and what-not...your last few posts are really throwing me for a loop...What's up with that?

"I'm not try'n to bust your chops or nuthin, but..."
That's like saying, "Well your Honor, I didn't want to kill the guy, but he was asking for it so I put two in his head and one in his chest." You're either 'try'n to bust my chops' or you're not, which is it?
I provide answers based on what I think the original poster needs to hear to best understand the situation they've found themselves in. The title of this thread is "What size engine?", and from the tone of the original post it lead me to believe he's fishing for ideas on what kind of motor to seek out and build for a possible drag truck. The term "drag truck" itself is loaded, and is solely based on opinion. What could be an all-out drag truck for one fella could just as easily be a daily driver for another gentleman. Instead of boasting about what I've built or raced in the past, I chose instead to help the original poster understand the intricacies of his task.
Is that really so hard to understand based on my reply?
This is "puddin" the original one to post this post. Aparently something has happened to my profile and cannot view anything. So I started a new one as "85SS" So if u see doubles of pics or post, I'm sorry. Anyways back to the post the reason for the guestion is that I was running a 383sb and just blew it up. And I am starting allover. Was just wondering what other people on here were running. There is not many drag s10's around my local track. thanks

I guess i'll chime in too lol. All forged 364 stroker on pump gas, tfs heads, 1.76 powerglide with trans brake, 456 gear, 28.x11.50 street tire. Best of 11.20 and 1.58 60 ft. not hooking up though. looking for mid 10's next year
Since your truck is tubbed, I would recommend a 540 big block.
Well I was thinking of a 434. But i'm not sure. Haven't really seen one that impressed me yet. Seen alot of pretty good 421's. My 383 done fair but want more power.

i like the 434 i built one for my nova and a friend of mine has a couple in his drag cars the trick to them is to build a light balanced rotating assembly to get it to wind up quick
