I have a 2000 4wd 4.3L. I bought a wrecked 2005 6.0L GTO for 4k with 17k on the engine and trans. For parts I have CP wiring, LS1 F-Body Oil Pan, adjustable traction bars, 3" angled blocks and 3" lowering keys, Serpentine Accessory Drive System from a '97 and up vette, bought the shorty header and engine mounts for the site, I had to buy a new plastic intake cuz it was cracked, 2 elec fans, branded fuel line with fittings, high pressure hose for the power steering from a '97 vette and on the way I have the cold air, fuel filter regulator, and harmonic balancer. Living in German is a pain with the mail and waiting on parts!! I haven't really heard of anyone on here putting an LS engine on a 4wd. But my tires would angle when I turned so I dropped it from a 3" body and 3" suspension. I had to chop down the shock mounting shell for clearance on the passenger side and re-drill holes and also had to beat in part of the frame on the drivers side to clear room for the exhaust when I put it on. I also put some huge bolts with locking washer thru where the half shafts used to be and have all the 4wd parts off. I leave for Iraq on Thanksgiving day and my only hopes are to finish this before I leave. I'm getting out after my year deployment and when my truck gets back to the states I plan putting everything on a 2wd. Be aware when ordering Serpentine Accessory Drive System cuz the belt didn't line up with my LS2 balancer for the GTO and the balancer is on national back order. I had to track down a balancer in the states and there wasn't to many of them and had to pay $260 just so I could get it out in the mail and here before I leave.. Seems I have been waiting for my last parts to arrive I decided to get some 5 points for the heck of it and built the bars for it. Before I started this project I've never welded in my life but am pretty descent now. For exhaust I'm going to run true duals with high flow cats and super 44 flowmasters.. My tranny crossmember is kinda over kill so don't make fun of me cuz it will work:) I don't have any pics of the truck itself but I have it setting on the GTO 17" rims and have 245's on them for right now.
I don't have any pics with the Serpentine Accessory Drive System on it or the wiring. I had to cut into the heat/AC box and fiberglass it and also I can't fit the covers on top cuz the master cylinder is too big.

I do have some questions thou, there are 2 connector in back of the intake one big that goes to the master cylinder and I looked at my buddy's GTO and it looks like the small one goes to part of the rest of the brake system. Can anyone tell me what I can do with this?
Also I can't remember who I bought the CD from on here right now but he said I use my stock radiator with elec fans. There is a hose coming from the top drivers side corner that goes to the radiator but I don't see anywhere for it to connect to on my stock radiator..
Also there is a plastic piece on the top passenger side of the engine, a hose connects to the bottom part coming from right beside the part I just mentioned but there is also a connection part that a hose goes to so can anyone tell me about that?
Thanks a lot for checking my ride out and I'll keep ya'll updated on when I get the rest of my parts in..

Some more pics..

Keep in mind that some of these pics are old. I had a hard time finding bolts big enough to go thru the crossmember and frame so I had to make my own outta all thread along with the bolt for the shock shell. I also took some more off the back side of the shell and made spacers for the shock.

Hey guys I'm not able to make it over to the shop today, it's at a different post about 25mins away. I usually go over there about everyday. We had mandatory fun day for our Bradage and tomorrow we get on a bus for 1 1/2hrs and ride to where the rest of the Bridage is. So wish me luck I did pretty well on the rock throw, 71lbs (heaviest) for 12'10" and beat the furthest distance by 4". Hopefully I win a day off or something!

Hey Ruff, sorry to bump but just noticed your location, where in Germany are you and which Cav unit please. Spent over 9 years there myself.

I am a Cav Scout but not in a Cav Unit as of right now.. I'm in 3-66 armor (which just re-flagged from 1-77 back in February) in 1st division 72 infantry brigade. Stationed in Grafenwoehr, which is where you probably came to shoot gunnery at. I was in 1-1 Cav in Budingen Germany which is by Hanau and 45mins away from Frankfurt. That unit closed down and so i went to Schweinfurt and now here to Graf and leaving for the big sandbox next Thursday.

No wonder I didn't see this, I rarely venture into the projects forum.

Back home, we'd call that crossmember of yours an abortion, but at least it's strong. http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/images/smilies/thefinger.gif

Looks like you have all your ducks in a row, anything I could help with?

I know exactly where you are talking about I spent many days at Graf and other training areas. I was in Hanau in 16th CSG for 3 years 92-95. Keep your head down in the sandbox and get back in the same shape you left in, after all you got to finish your truck.

Yeah I spent a lot of time up in Hanau cuz Budingen didn't have anything work wise or personal wise so we had to go up there for everything.
Good news is thou seems everything is settling down over there we won't be doing much which is a nice break compared to last tour of 3-4 missions a day. I lost 25lbs and gained a lot of fat due to not being able to eat or go to the gym. Right now I'm a solid 218lbs and hope to be a ripped 240lbs by the time I come back.
We are going to be doing secondary QRF (quick reaction force) which means we'll be back up for the back up if the people out of the wire can handle whats going on. So like I said, I really don't mind cuz that just means more gym time for me and hopefully I can knock out some online classes and prepare for when I get out in March 2010.. I plan to go to school full time in Jacksonville when I get out. I just ordered a bunch of LS books and engine and will order a few more after I get schooled on them.. The truck might be finished before I leave but if not someone will finish it up for me.. I'll be able to drive it around for a lil while before I have to ship it back to the states but it's going to be hard driving it cuz I know I'll want to get on it and see what it gots but this time next year and until I get out Germany will probably be covered with snow, so it might have to wait til I get to FL!!
