I have a 1987 s10 Blazer 2wd 2.8L with auto trans.I also own a 2002 camaro with an auto trans.I'm thinking about doing the v8 conversion.I've helped my homeboy put a v8 in his s10 blazer with an oldschool 350 carbed engine.I've never dealt with the computer stuff before.I want to use as many parts off my Camaro as I possibly can to save paper.

Question:
1)Can I use the rear end off the 2002 Camaro cuz it's posi and disc brakes?

2)Will I be able to use the Camaro's radiator?

Thanks to whom ever knows the answers to my questions.Feel free to add any other things I will need to know.

I want to use as many parts off my Camaro as I possibly can to save paper.Great idea! If you can use the entire drivetrain from the Camaro you're looking at a very inexpensive swap.
Question:
1)Can I use the rear end off the 2002 Camaro cuz it's posi and disc brakes? You bet. You'll have to cut off the coil buckets and track bar mount in order to weld on leaf spring perches. The wheels will bolt up, and so will the brakes. I don't know the width difference off hand, but it can't be more than a few inches total, but I'd assume the Camaro rear end is wider than the 2wd S10 Blazer rear.

2)Will I be able to use the Camaro's radiator? With some modification, you bet. The Camaro and S-truck core support are actually very similar to one another, yet the Camaro radiator is 2.25" taller. How? The Camaro radiator is tilted at an angle towards the motor, so naturally the radiator can be taller with the same hood height...same idea is found in the Corvette and Hummer. One doesn't need a degree in mathematics to know the hypotenuse of a non-equilateral triangle will be a longer distance than its legs, which is what's going on here. If you use the Camaro radiator, you'll have to notch about 2" out of the tops of the frame rails where the extra radiator height will go so you can close the hood without interference. Doing this will allow you to use the electric fans from that Camaro which are a very good choice for cooling the LS1 in there.

You'll need to use the Camaro PCM, and call someone with electrical experience on how to wire up a 2002 harness with an 87 harness so everything works out alright. Key issues to ask about are transmission shifting (P,R,N,D,3/OD,2,1), fuel pump control, OBDII port (to tune the PCM and check it later for trouble codes if they should arise), gauges (mechanical speedo vs electrical) and other things I'm sure I'm forgetting. I don't do electrical...I leave that to much better people. Speaking of fuel, your old 2.8L I assume is still TBI and the pump is not sufficient to feed an LS1 that requires a minimum of 58psi. An easy fix is to get a gas tank from a 96+ S-truck and use that, unless the wiring guru you call says you can use the Camaro fuel pump inside your stock tank...which may or may not become a headache, I'm not sure. So look into that. What I do know is that you'll need to address the fuel issues with this LS1 since it is a return-line-less fuel system, but if you can find a pump that puts out 58-62psi, I can help with the rest.

As for the actual swap itself, look on this site for the mounts, block plates and possibly headers for the S-truck part of the swap.
