I HAVE BEEN READING OVER SOME OF THE OLD TREADS AND HAVEN'T SEEN ANYTHING THAT MATCHED MY QUESTION. tHE QUESTION I HAVE IS I HAVE AN 89 S-10 4X4 THAT HAD THE 4.3. I DROPPED A 350 TBI OUT OF A 90' K1500 ALONG WITH THE TRANS 700-R4 AND TRANFER CASE, NOW KEEP IN MIND I AM NOT A MECHANIC AND WHEN I SAY "I" I BASICALLY MEAN MY FRIEND WHO IS A MECHANIC PRETTY MUCH DID EVERYTHING AND I DID WHAT I COULD OR WAS TOLD TO DO OR GET. ANYWAY WE GOT EVERYTHING UP AND RUNNING IT IDLES FINE BUT WHEN I DRIVE IT DOWN THE ROAD IT JUST HAS NO POWER AND IT SHIFTS TOO SOON OR WHEN I FLOOR IT IT BOGS DOWN LIKE IT WANTS TO GO BUT DOESN'T AND IT WONT. DO I NEED TO GET A REGULATOR FOR THE FUEL. OF COURSE IT HAS THE IN TANK PUMP BUT IS THAT TOO MUCH/NOT ENOUGH PRESSURE OR SHOULD I BE LOOKING ELSEWHERE. EVERYTHING IS STOCK BUT THE K&N. I REALIZE THIS IS A VAGUE EXPLANATION BUT ANY INPUT WOULD HELP. I WAS EXCITED TILL NOW WE ARE AT A STANDSTILL TRYING TO FIGURE THIS OUT. THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSES.
Did U change your computer out with one from the donor truck if not try that? Even if both your S10 and your donor truck computer have the same numbers, the proms are different or have your computer in truck reprogramed.
If u did change computers over. there could be others things like bad fuel pump not suppling enough fuel to the engine.
Could be a bad injector, wiring to injectors, the rubber hose on the fuel pump to sender unit could have a hole in it, weak ign coil. plugs and wires. it could be a bad sensor.

We did switch computers and there aren't any fuel leaks we are going to check the fuel pressure tom. What is the fuel pressure suppose to be for the new motor?

We also put new cap rotor and plugs on.
Fuel pressure should be between 9-13 psi while running.

Make sure you adjust the TV cable on the 700R4 correctly too, it will burn it up really quick if you don't.

Sounds like what I ran into when my mechanic and I started mine. He changed plugs and wires and got 2 wires crossed. Idled fine but no power. As for shifting too soon, there was a big difference in the shift points between the 700R behind the 2.8 that was in there before and the 700R thats in there now. On a normal takoff it shifts into 2nd at a little over 10 MPH, the old one probbly shifted about 20MPH.
I am using the original in tank fuel pump.

Low fuel pressure, plug wires mixed up, timing not set correctly could all act like no power.
Adjustment of the TV cable for the 700r has to be 'just right' or it could end up burning up your tranny.

Thank you all for your help i will let you know how it goes. i know how to adjust the tv cable but does anyone know where it is the shift point is supposed to be or is it a trial and error kind of thing where i think it should shift?
