I have a long block 5.3L I removed from a 2004 Tahoe, that had valve train noise. Upon teardown, I found wear on the push rods and rockers. The noise was intermittent and I am confident that the main and rod bearings are mint. I purchased the core on this engine and brought it home but now it looks like it will be sitting for a while before I use it. I had planned to get new heads, cam, lifters, pushrods and rockers.
