Doesn't look like junk from here! Looks good! Welcome aboard. Tell us a little more about it. I can see from the 2 pics at least you might have busted a knuckle or two polishing the wheels. So don't keep us wondering about the details!
Also might want to up grade on the membership so you can carry on a quicker conversation. 1 post a day takes for ever!

Yea, I don't see no junk there... Welcome to the best place for S10 conversion info, what did you need advice on? Looks like your almost done to me, I like the nice clean paint job and I do believe it's going to be a race truck, may need more rubber in the back... I can see a fuel cell and I think possibly some sort of traction bars...

Let's see now... We need (engine bay) electrics, ignition system & wiring, fuel system hookup, throttle cable, return spring, air cleaner, accessory brackets, alternator, belts, pulleys, cooling system: hoses, water pump, fans & wiring and I guess you may want to put the battery in the rear, etc.. etc....

I would like to suggest posting smaller pictures so we don't have to scroll side to side to see the whole picture or read the post...

There's a lot of info on putting the 8.8 ford explorer rear in the S-10 on here, unless its hard core racing , that's what most of the guys here do , I believe. I like the Slide a links, they do work very well. Beautiful truck BTW! :)

You know that junk was in good shape when you got it as far as I can see from the picture, it reminds me of what I always look for in a truck to build... Lucky for me my present 87 long bed was found by a close friend of mine for only $400.00 with no engine and it was the perfect candidate because it had a 2.8 & 700R4 just like I was looking for, what a find the condition it was in, 125k miles and a clear title...

Like Bakas, I would also like to know what that color is, do you have the color code for it?

joey82s10

I have the code somewhere around here. Its a factory GM silver that came on the SSR.

Family owned boby shop, painted by my uncle. As soon as i'm done with all the mechanical stuff, he is going to airbrush "real flames" on the truck.

Candy colors and alot of time air brushing. I admit though, the more i look at the solid silver, the more it grows on me

It has something to do with the angles of the photos. No matter what side you look at in the pics, it looks that way. The only alignment a realy will have to play with is the hood. It appers one of my hinges is bent.

It has 2inch blocks in the rear. The wheels came off of my 69 camaro, i dont remember the spacing. They stick out in the rear a little to much for me.

I'm going to try and be stupid. We street race alot where i'm from, and as of now they are banking on it not hooking, duh! I am going to try those comp. engineering slide-a-link-traction bars and eventually swap to a 8.8. Right now the 7.5 with a posi carrier and 3.73 will have to do. I painted the wheel wells months ago, these are old pics.

Yeah it haswent fast. Just have limited time. Self employed. But I have made big leaps on this thing. Doing a frame off, 5.3 LS TH350 is the plan. Just hitting the wallet hard! But what the hell, getting what I want!:)
Sad that I have more pictures on my laptop at work, than I do at home!

My profile here has more pix. Or on myspace.com BUTCHERBOYuser name.
Thanks for pep talk.

Carefull with the 5.3 (depending on year and model) they are prone to cylinder head cracks. Do you know what exactly it came out of? GM tech here!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some vehicles may experience a gradual coolant loss over time. A very low percentage of cylinder head(s) manufactured with an embossed Castech logo may develop a porosity crack in a very specific area.

Inspect the cylinder head assembly to determine if the casting was manufactured by Castech. This can be accomplished by inspecting for their casting logo located on top of the intake port, under the rocker arm support rail and in the spring deck cavity portion of the cylinder head.

Important: If the cylinder head(s) are Not a Castech casting, follow normal diagnostic procedures in SI to determine the cause of the coolant loss.

Refer to the following illustrations on how to identify Castech casting and/or the very specific areas of the cylinder head(s) for a coolant leak from porosity.

Cylinder head(s) location of the Castech manufacturing casting logo (1).

Close up view of the cylinder head(s) showing the Castech manufacturing casting logo (1).

If the cylinder head(s) is a Castech casting (1), inspect the area around the five oil drain holes for witness marks indicating coolant seepage over time (2).

Important: If No evidence of coolant loss is found on inspection of Castech casting cylinder head(s), follow normal diagnostic procedures in SI to determine the cause of the coolant loss.

The crack location can be found in any of the five cylinder head(s) oil drains. This can be seen as a clean or shiny area, on an otherwise stained surface (1). Pressurizing the cooling system at this time may reveal coolant, air, or a combination, weeping in the described area. If inspection reveals evidence of coolant witness marks (1), replace the entire cylinder head(s) assembly.

GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
