welcome to the site first and a good think to do is to up grade your membership to premium so you can have more then one chance a day to talk.
second, what are your plans with the truck street, strip, both or what.
third, you can check out the parts, there is a kit that has almost every thing you need.

fourth, have fun with the truck and take your time.

Welcome to the site!! First, it would be best to plan to conversion and buy the parts you need. If this is your primary transportation, you will need an alternate vehicle to allow the swap to be completed. Here are some questions back at you. Do plan to keep a stick shift? If you are, look into a NV3500. You would do better to find a late 90s s10 with a NV3500 in it. Take the trans, flywheel, clutch, master and slave cylinder, crossmember, and anything else you can think of. The NV3500 can fit in the same hole your shifter is in now. You are probably wondering why can't I use the T5 in the truck? The input shaft is different and had to get parts to adapt to a v8. You could use the some specialty parts, but is it worth the cost?

Next, have you decided on a budget for your project? The lower the budget to more you will need to go carbed. The more expensive conversions are the EFI ones. They don't start out that way, but end up with wiring issues or custom harnesses that puts these installs out of reach. The cheapest EFI install would be a TBI. You can find a older truck from 88-about 95 and grab the computer and harness. These motors were still quite primitive to todays EFI.
