Im thinking about starting a 4wd s15 extended cab 350 lt1 swap. i live in California. i would like to know what problems may arise for smog i've read that as long as it is an same year or earlier model engine it will smog fine after a stop by the referee. i have an 350 out of an 1989 Cheyenne. now can i use the tbi that is on the engine if i pull the computer and wiring harness is there an after market harness that some one offers. i would like to put it behind a 1990 t5. Will it hold is it a waist of time should i look for a irock 6spd. any problems that come with having a v8 differentials, cvs, im really interested in doing this swap. any and all info is welcome your help will be much appreciate. thanks for your time guys and gals.

First off, welcome to the site. You never mentioned what year mode you want to build. The TBI from that old truck can reuse the computer from the donor. The wiring harness depends on the year you are putting it in. The older the dime the more likely you can use the donor engine harness. That will allow you to use the analog gauges on the dash. The newer the dime the more it will lead toward having a new harness for the truck. The trans, you would be better off with a nv3500. The t5 is ok, but you would have better results with the nv3500. Use the one from a s10 vs the fullsize. The first gear is steeper in the full size. The 4x4 section is out my league.

Also strongly consider upping the membership. A conversation that has you posting once a day can be very drawn out. With premium you can post as fast as you can type. lol!

nv3500 is the 5spd tranny out of the s10. is it stronger or just easier to install over the t5? or does the t5 just have that taller first gear?

I've not done the 5 speed swap but I have read that the nv3500 is the trans to go with. Read that many times on here.
