As I get to the final stages on my S-10, I wonder what time it might turn in an 1/8 mile track? "88 S-10 with 406c.i.,10:1 compression,Erson cam-484 lift,284 dur. int./296 dur. ex. 110 lsa,Weiand intake,600 cfm Holley,port/polished heads,2.02/1.60 valves,Hooker full lenght headers, dual flowmasters, hei dist. w/curve kit,350 turbo-3000 stall, shift kit,8.8" Explorer w/3.73 posi. I realize there's a lot of variables, but just curious what it might come close to running? Guy I work with has a '77 nova with 377 c.i./nitrous that wants to run me next spring. It's all fun tho, fast or slow, huh?

No way I ran a 7.0 with my stock 4.3 Jimmy.

And my silverado 5.3 ran a 6.0 with just a cool air intake and exhaust.

My guess is 8.0's. Like rayL says "WHA"!!

I would bet money on it running faster then a 8.0 no way its slower then a stock 4.3 jimmy

No way your Jimmy with a 4.3 ran 7.0 in the 1/8. You sure you were no racing 330?

A 7.05 in the 1/8 would be 11.00 in the 1/4. Mine runs 7.05 1/8 and best 1/4 time is 11.06, so the conversion is pretty close.

A 5.3 in the 1/8 mile converts to a 8.25 in the 1/4.

A 6.0 in the 1/8 converts to a 9.35 in the 1/4.

a 5.0 flat in the 1/8 would be a 7.80 in the 1/4.

I agree that 8.30-8.50 if it hooks is possible. Which would be high 12's to low 13's in the 1/4.

have to agree with grimm theres noway your running that had a monte carlo that run 12.03 in the 1/4 and I had a 383 and all body weighted 4000 lb so theres no way.

torque wiil win races. make sure you have the right tires and have no wheel hop. go on test and tune day and get your set up right. then race your nova friend. i bet he's been down the track a few times.it may be for fun, but it's funner when you win!!

I would geuss in the high 8's. We ran a stock 95 Blazer 2wd with the vortec auto. The best it got in the 1/8th was 10.35. To run in the 4s-5's you will need no weight, lots of bottle, and one heck of a hold of the wheel!

I would say 8.40-8.60.

I would say 8.40-8.60.
That'd be my guess....... But keep in mind, (like others have mentioned) that hooking up good is a MUST.

I used to have a similar combo except it was a stock 355 with a 262 cam and 305 heads, stock t350 trans, stock converter, 373 gear, ran 8.00 in the 8th and 13.00 in the 1/4 with a 1.72 60ft.

so I would guess and say you could run a high 7 in the 8th, but thats if your truck dead hooks.

Hey,thanks for all the time info. I guess we'll have to wait for spring to see if it'll hook up good. Mid 8"s would tickle me with the motor like it is. If I get enough money for better heads & a bigger cam, then I'll see how much I can drop the time down.Always liked building a "back yard" ride that'll run faster than it looks like it will. Was gonna run tunnel ram & 2 Holleys but wife said"NO" , it'll be fast enough. Have located another good 400 block to build a 427c.i. small block out of one of these days. But for now, I'm gonna have some serious fun driving to work, car shows,& to the track.I enjoy seeing all your rides on here. Lots of inspiration. Thanks!

Yep, the Nova buddy runs at the track regular, but I've been running at the same track here(Piedmont Dragway) since high school back in the early '70's. So,an old man like me can still cut a good light & work the throttle good. I see the last green on the tree, then I'm gone! lol I do like the setup X-ten has on the rear axle as far as an adjustable upper control arm. Can control the pinion angle better to help it launch better. I'll have to sit down & draw that out. HMMMMMMM! Check on misc. pics for a couple of my car drawings that I do.

low 8's is a fair guess. I run mid to high 5's with a conciderable amount more done to it. with the old 406 very simular was 7.90 on motor and 6.80 on spray

Slimer, I like your wheels in the air truck! That'll be mine one of these years. That's why I'm already planning a little bit bigger small block with a lot more done to it to see what I can squeeze out of it,& still drive it on the street.

I'm with the majority. I think it will go somewhere around 8.30-8.50 if it hooks and is tuned well.

My truck goes 6.27-6.32 on a 190ish shot. No way he's going anywhere near a 4 or 5 anything. Maybe 60ft. LOL

Hey deception,....man you where joking right?? Surely, you can't really believe what you wrote or........you are just simply mistaken.
