my penny in this mix is to use street tires but thats me and my everyday driver and due to that the cops love to screw with people that have drag radials vs. street radials so thats why I just go with street.

MT Drag Radials are as good as it gets for street drag radials. Set up right they hook as good as most slicks.

have to agree but tread isnt all that great. so if you get caught in the rain its hard to drive. the Nitto 555 drag radials have a full tread and stick like crazy. so even if you get caught in rain you dont have as bad of a grip problem. thats what i use.

I always liked BFGoodrich Radial T/A, i used 295/50/r16 on the rear, seems to hook decent for the price.

These work good on the street and strip. I have seen cars go deep in the 9's with these drag radials. http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplayPopup?storeId=10001&catalogId=10002&productId=753925&langId=-1&showValue=3

i like those too. they grip a bit better then the Nittos too. BUT tread sux again. if caught in the weather you have trouble. i had the BFGs they were bad to the bone. i was taking the car to my work to use the lift that day and got caught in the rain. the cement wall on the bridge got to eat my front facia on my 87 monte ss

For anyone in the New Orleans area I will pass along dealer discounts from the Tire Rack. I get much better prices than in the catalogs.

I have the Nitto NT555 285/35/18 in the back and 225/40/18 in the front, the tires are awesome, they are really quiet on the highway and handle really well. if you are wanting an all out street drag tire with a little tread Nitto offers the NT555R and NT555RII which I have heard very good things about both designs. and the price is very fair.

Have you run those 555R's on the strip ZR1Blazer? I hope to run a Bootleggers class at Bristol and we have to run a drag radial.

not yet personally. but i have a freind that used the same size Nitto 555R on a 10.6 firebird. he sticks hard and even pulls the drivers side front tire off the ground about an inch or so.

Nitto NT 555s you can get them in regular tires as well. or a goodyear F1 with the Nitto NT 555 up front 275/40/17 and the 555R rear 315/35/17 rain or shine these tires stick. i went up an on ramp 2 days ago (real tight curve) speed limit on the on ramp is 15mph i took that curve at 78mph and still could have went faster. the goodyear gatorbacks are some sticky tire too. i dont know if they still make those?

I run the Mickey Thompson S/R radial sportsman and they hook very well on the street but weather is always a issue.

Try a set of the Nitto NT 555 Extreme Performance tires you will not be disappointed and the price is unbeatable. go to discounttiredirect.com and read the reviews about the tires.

i think grim is right.mt,s are the best.you cant beat'em.if youre gonna get caught in the rain now and then,id say mt et streets.i have bfg drag radials on mine.they suck even when the roads are damp.also at the track the pits are gravel, and when you get them hot the rocks stick to them like those donuts with the nuts on'em.the kid has et.streets& they dont do that.mine are 275 60's,no problem, don't hit anywhere.

iv ran the azenis rt-615's in my old 240sx and they were amazing, besides in the rain, lol but traction was never a problem and i got about 14000 miles out of them.
