Mike you said in your post that if you post in a thread that is over 180 day you will lose points so the threads I posted into today where not even over 30 days so how did I go from almost 30,000 to 28,559 thats a big drop in points I no that there not a big deal or any thing like that but its the Principal of it that alot of point to lose when you haven't done to much in a day do you know what I mean.

BAKAS , this question does't pertain to this thread, but I bought a roll cage from summit, and I looked under the truck and I noticed that there is about a 3" gapfrom the frame to the floor pan. If welding to the frame, is the hoop going to be tall enough to compensate for that distance?

Not sure how you lost points. Havent been really keeping track of them. I noticed that If I visit and repley to losts of posts and stay for a long time at 1 time per day, I get to 100% active. But if I visit 3 times and repley to posts for a short time I get less activity????
I don't think you can lose points for tagging wrong. Wrong tag words direct people to threads that don't contain valuable information they are in search of. maybe you can though???
Mike can you loose points for tagging wrong?

Yeah you can, Mike deleted to tag words that I used to describe some tags so I lost the points off all the posts that I used that tag on. I konw cause I sent a pm to Mike and he told me that was done.

Honestly, if you are just posting for points, are you really helping the board?

Personally, points don't mean crap to me. Some folks have a ton of points and don't know crap and some are visa-versa. So it's all of no use to me.

I'm with Stroker, points don't mean anything to me, I read all the post on here daily or more, but only reply to those I can help with or have input to. :soapbox:

This is the exact way i would expect a forum to work. Then you dont have the same 2 or 3 people saying, "I dont know, but I am sure someone can answer your question." Does that really help with the answer?
Just my 2 pennies.

Ok Ive done some post whoring but replying like that ant really for point. Posts give like 2 points but it does keep the thread going with new posts so others that could help see the new post. Just like doing a bump on other forums.

OK now the points don't mean to much to me either, the most important thing is the friendship you make in the forum, and also the help that people can get and give to others, I was just wanting to know what I did to lose them so I don't do it again and I'm not a post whore I just keep up with whats going on and trying to learn more about the S10 due to the fact that I only worked on cars this is my second truck that I have had in my 38 years I have had 12 cars that I worked on and sold for cash so sorry If I'm trying to learn more myself.
have no clue why you lost points, i don't keep track of anyones points, not even my own. I can tell you I did nothing to cause you to loose them, only thing i've done is remove the tags problem and problems. because the words problem and problems should not be used as tags.
i also do not look into any problem anyone has with points because they don't mean anything

Theres no reason to be sorry. The points are worthless and it is only about help others, making friends and helping your self.

Honestly I don't think there is that much of that here. Most people that replie to the posts have something to add. Some may not post the whole answer, but thier idea helps. Sometimes a poster may not be able to explain something very well and someone else will jion in and elaborate a little and make it easier to understand.
Some posts get no replies. After a day or 2 they are too far back in the system to get seen. I 'd rather see somone pull that post to the top by saying " I don't know , but someone here does." then let the post fade away. That way the author knows their is still hope.
Their was a tranny rebuild question awhile back. It was a very techinical question about shim order and alignment I think. The post faded away, a week later I pulled it up and told him their are 2 tranny guys hers that know there stuff, when they chime in they'll replie. ( Thats all I could do, I am not a tranny builder.)They both saw the post and replied about a week later. No one else posted, no one tried to "BS" an answer for him. Repectfully He got his answer - the correct answer.
I believe everyone here is helpfull in someway or another. An occasional Joker with a funny answer about nothing is comicial. None of us want this site to be as boring or un interesting.
There is 1 reason people come to this site. 1 They want and need info. The key is they keep coming back because They like the good people behind the screen names.
There is one example of posting for points (in my opinion) and that is THe "Hi I'm new and say hi back to me threads" We are all guilty of saying "HI" back. But hey isn't that what the welcome wagon is suppsed to do.
