I have a friend who is interested in putting a 3800 V6 from a 2000 TransAm into his 2nd generation S series truck. The truck has a manual 5 speed. The TransAm has a 4l60E, I assume. Can anybody tell me how this swap can be done as far as swapping computers, etc. The 2000 TransAm has the drive by wire throttle system on it.
We neeed some serious help with this one, so if you fellas have any sources of information or know where to get manuals, and websites to check out then please advise.
Thanks, Stroker1

Come on fellas, nobody's got any advise or ideas? I know it's not a V8, but it's a neat idea I think.
The truck has a 4 banger in it now with a 5 speed. Will the 3800 from the G body fit the 5 speed?

My best advise for you is to use the entire wiring harness from the camaro. That wiring harness will have alot of twisted loop wire in it and can't be disturbed too much with out making the computer freak out. However, Painless may have a harness for you, or they can make one.

is this the supercharged 3800? otherwise, i don't think it has enough hp to be worth the extra trouble compared to a 4.3 swap.

Nope, it's not supercharged. Not yet anyway. The 3800 is an awesome little motor. In my opinion it's much better all around than the 4.3, better balanced and lasts longer. Good fuel mileage, etc. He's not really looking for alot of power. Just decent power and good fuel mileage. It's got to beat the 4 banger and the 2.8 for all around performance and mileage. It's just mainly something he wants to do. Thanks for the tips. He hasn't started it yet. He's been busy restoring a Farmall 340 tractor to show quality. It's almost flawless. He also has a S10 Blazer 2 door 2wd 1st gen with a TPI 305 from a Camaro. It's sharp, and done right. He just likes to piddle with stuff like this. Wish I had some pics of this stuff.
