i'm thinking about dropping a 6.0 out of an 06' pontiac GTO. this will be my first and probably only swap. any advice is good advice.

starter questions: do i need to get a full motor and trans combo or will the 4 speed thats in the truck bolt up? i have a 3" body lift and i have seen people talk about header issues. are there any headers out there that will clear with the lift or should i take it off and bring it back to stock? Will i have to get the oil pan off of an H3 Alpha to clear the crossmember? what about shocks and springs? that 6.0 wieghs a lot more than my 4.3? what can i start doing to the truck now that will make the swap easier and still be able to drive it?

really any advice will be helpful

thanks

If at all possible, try to get the motor-trans combo and make it fit. And as for the headers, the stock manifolds on those motors ain't bad performance-wise, and with a body lift, that may help with the clearance.

Hey I'm working on putting a Ls1 Out of an 02 corvette in my 99 Zr2. I bought all my wiring from current performance wiring out of Florida. They will make you a plug and play wiring harness for your swap. and custom tune your computer from the gto. to work with your truck. Your dash will work the way it suppose to, It cost me $1500 for my harness computer tune and headers from them, I'm just using Sanderson ls1 headers for a 2wd s10 swap. I hope to have mine wrapped up pretty soon. if I can help I will.
