Mike. I suggest that new members have limitations to site functions. such as classifieds. just as junior members are limited to site access. i see alot of people join just to post an add because its S10 related? thats wrong. most of us wont buy simply because we dont know you anyway. if we wanted to do that we could go to ebay and find something cheaper. and possibly not allow someone to post an add until like 50 posts. that way we know they are interested in being a member. also must be a preimium member to post in the classifieds only after your 1st 50 posts? just a suggestion. also i notice alot of shortheadings again and people posting in the wrong place like here. this forum is for site suggestions?? just dont get it.

I agree with this there is to many that are posting 2 or 3 times and not hearing from them again, thats not right to the members that are on all the time.

I've sent Mike numerous "reports" lately of the above mentioned "posting under wrong topics", and he has done nothing about any of them. A few times, I even made a post in the thread myself, about the same, and MY post was deleted from that thread. Maybe now Mike will set his dis-like of me aside, and address the issue because it IS bothering other "regulars", and not just me, but good luck.

As a newb though, it is a little tricky doing the right thing in the right place here. I know my first few posts were in the wrong forum because i just clicked the ask a quick question link at the top of the home page and it automatically sends you to general forum. And i still cant figure out how to make a picture gallery on MY page/space or whatever. As far as 2 or 3 posts and never seen again, I plan to be around for as long as i have internet and my build is officially underway as you will see under the "projects" thread... lol Overall this site rocks!

as a newb its to be expected to post in the wrong spot. but we direct you to the right spot. i myself have been guilty of the things i have mentioned. i just dont like seeing people join post a classified and never come back. i know when i joined you could even join the site unless you paid. since all the changes i dont know how it is? but i do see alot of junior members so i assume that is free?

I understand what your saying about 1- 3 posts and leaving. The problem I see is that if the individule is a paid member he or she has the same rights as all the other paid members. I also agree that before unless you logged in you couldn't play on the site. It used to goto a link with the rotating red s10 with the theme "log on to see the page". Or something like that. Actually I think it let you read the very first post but not the replies.
Newbies are our up and coming population. To me lots of the guys are newbies. I joined in 03 I think. Damn I'm old! But anyways , members will come and go theres nothing we can do about it. There are a few 'newbies of my era' that used to be here that we very knowledgeable and have posted hunderds of times. A few I miss and a few I just don't remember.

this isnt a rant or a complaint? just a suggestion. the site is fine the way it is but suggestions do help mike make the changes that better suit EVERYONE, at his discresion.

i definetly dont care about the being in the wrong subjects but im kinda like that.
my only thing is i would like them to look thru the old posts before3 we get to many
"where do i start?" threads thats getting a litle anoying because we always have to ask
what there setup is or at least tell them to post that in the beginning.i dont know the site is great maybe just ignore it as agravating as it is

Let's have a congressional hearing on the subject. Washington can solve all our problems, big and small.

I can see the point. Posts in the wrong place bother me also, and I'm sure I've done it a time or 2. But as long as we say, Dude it's in the wrong place. Then hopefully they will know better next time.
I dunno, Mike do you want us to report posts in the wrong place? If not.....we can just deal with it like, "Hey guys this is good, but it's in the wrong place". It don't bother me personally to hear suggestions. That is, until some folks act like an ass about it.

I know I have posted in the wrong place a few times. Usually someone tells me. Thats good for me cause I learn more. But even when its posted wrong, someone is always there to answer my question. Basically, ive been on the site for a long time. Seems like I have come and gone depending on if I am doing a project. But now it seems like the people here are closer to each other, ( I dont mean in distance)and thats a good thing!

I've been a member for a long time, and like terrybneal said i have come and gone depending on what is going on with the truck project wise at the time. I know that if I was restricted upon joining the site I probably would not have joined, the people on this site have helped me a great deal through the years, and , even though I did not post for some time I still came and read the threads. I wanted to have a better understanding and more troubleshooting experience before I gave other people advice. We all know that new members and new projects are what makes this site interesting, you take away their posting rights, their questions don't get answered and they don't show us their projects and we all loose interest. I myself like the way the site is set up, nobody is condescending towards each other and questions get answered, thanks for all of the help.

I have nothing against the new guys that come in. Well maybe some of the diaper changing. LOL What I see as a problem is the posting of a for sale item. If they never come on the site to update the info, what good is it?
I have a suggestion. Maybe allow the junior members to post on a for sale or want to buy. Don't allow to start a for sale thread until they have at least 50+ post and a paid membership. This will not hurt the ones that want to be here. The ones that could care less and are just looking to sell can keep on going. There a very good possibility that as a new member that no one will buy from you, since they don't know you.

i agree with melonhead about the posting of sale items, have tried to purchase a couple of things and they were gone, the long time members i have talked to I have had no problems whatsoever buying items from. Thank again for your help.

Although your correct 1st post is a sale post, this member has been a member since December. Maybe they visited everyday and read all the posts. Maybe. Maybe they signed on and it took 3 months to return. Maybe the pan he wants is the one for his s10. Maybe the last part he needed.
I do understand that you are not singleing this guy out, just using him as an example.
Maybe? I understand what everyone is saying, but I think it will be more hassling to "big brother" the newbies.
Just my opinion last post for me on this topic thread.
