Just a quick update. Just about done under hood. Motor's running fine. Welded up a mini console for shifter to sit on so I can grab gears better. Next week will bolt seats down & put new seat covers on. Slowly but surely!

Made a mount like that for mine out of aluminum several years ago. Helped a ton as far as comfort at the track. No more reaching down to the floor to shift.

Lookin good, must be a common problem with those Edelbrock valve covers, the fake Allen head plugs don't stay in very long, I have to keep some in the shop to replace those that pop out.

Yep, that's a Hurst Quarter-stick. Made about like B&M Pro-stick. I traded a V8 Vega motor mount kit that I've had forever for the shifter. I have always liked to keep my engine compartments clean & very simple. Looking under this hood looks no more different than any Chevelles, etc. that I've built over the years. Simplicity means less work & upkeep later on. Many thanks tho. More pics next week.

Thanks Manyfire! Old truck won't be too bad for a budget backyard build. There's plenty other guys on here that know a lot more than I do. So, you'll always be learning something new. I have on here for sure. Bakas, the radiator brackets are just some more of my "southern backyard ingenuity". Built a bunch of '55-'57 Chevys over the years & always cut the center of the radiator support out so you don't have to pull everything off next time you pull the engine. Just unbolt the center part & radiator & slide the motor/trans right thru. Besides, you can learn a lot just looking at all the pics on this site. Some really neat stuff been built on here.
