so first off, my name is jim and i am new to the site. ive been juggling my options for a project car/truck for a while and decided to go with a truck. i have been doing a lot of reading and research on the forums here and i love it. i am looking at getting a 350 TBI w/ computer, harness and accessories from a buddy of mine for $500 (helping him pull it out of an old blazer) (i don't have the body of the truck yet)

so now come the questions (my wallet isn't huge, but there is no rush to get this truck finished)

first off, i am debating on leaving this motor as a 350 or boring it out and putting a 383 stroker kit into it. the heads are rebuilt, very recently with a new cam (not sure what kind). For near 1000$ is it worth getting the stroker kit or should i just leave it and get new internals for the 350?

second, i was wondering about state laws. i would love to drop this smallblock into an s10 but i have heard a few things about licensing. i want this truck to be a street/strip truck. in wisconsin, i have been told that in order for a vehicle to be street legal it must have an engine that was an option for that specific vehicle (because of recent laws), and the s10 only came w/ the 4banger or v6. i've also been told that this is BS. i cant find any specifics in the state statues online. if it turns out that a v8 s10 cannot be legalized for street use, i was going to put the motor into a reg cab short bed silverado. does anyone know the weight difference of these two vehicles?

thanks for the help, and if there is a law in WI, i'm hoping for a way around it :)

Welcome to the site man. What heads are you going to put on. I would just put the sbc in it with new internals. Im not sure what the laws are there but I know in AZ they arent that big on it. Before you do it though I would just go down to emisions and ask them they should know.

For sure check your emmisions laws first before you do your build. Here in Tennessee some areas are not covered and you can do anything you want, and other areas you must go through an emmisions test to get your tags. It's a real bear to get a non stock performance vehicle through it, too. It sucks!
