My 95 S10 4x4 has a V8 that is paired with the original NV3500 or the 5ML60 trans. The trans has about 140k miles on it and I am not at the point where I need to either get it rebuilt or put in a used one to save $$.

I have read all the previous forums regarding the Nv3500 vs. NV4500 and the TH350 vs. 700r4.

I have the option to go either direction really. I have a cheap ready to go 700R4 that I can use, but I would like to remain manual. I was quoted about 1200 to rebuild my trans which seems to be pretty standard price here in town. I have also considered if I'm going to rebuild why not just buy a used manual. But would I want to stick with the original nv3500 or upgrade to a NV4500? What is the difference I would expect as far as performance goes?

I don't want it to be any more sluggish then it already is.

I have a TH350 so I could not tell you the differance, but I found a transmission shop that serviced the race track about 40 miles away and had them rebuild the tranny. As far as performance goes the th350 is great, fuel ecomomy sucks! But what fun would that be. Welcome to the site!

the manuals I cant tell you s*&t but the automatics the 350 is good for drag but for DD 700R4 is a good highway trans mine I have been getting 18 mpg but you can us it on once an awhile drags.
