View Full Version : LS1 Fuel Pump / Fuel Lines

My truck: 2000 s10, 2.2L 5 speed
My Engine: 98 LS1, t56 with a t70 turbo
I have 90% of my parts collected, Researched LOTS on this site, but Can't find a fuel pump! Will the stock 2.2 s10 pump work? also, will the fuel lines mate right up?
I have the LS1 Out of a 1998 Corvette so it also has the return fuel line already... Will the fuel lines just simply plug in?
What is the stock fuel pump good for? is it the correct fuel pressure? Will i need a different regulator? Is the regulator on the Vette's fuel rail good?

Your stock fuel pump won't be enough volume for the engine, much less adding the turbo. You need to experiment placing a 255lph HP pump. The regulator on the Vette engine is stock. It is not what you need for a boosted application. You need a boost referenced adjustable fuel pressure regulator. That way the fuel pressure rises with boost. The stock injectors won't be enough ether. You need to start with a realistic HP level and have the injectors and the fuel pressure able to feed the monster.

No no, i don't want to run and adjustable rate regulator. Those are way too inconsistant for an EFI setup. Good for carbs though, but they're a Cheesy way to get around EFI tuning.
I'm using 60lb venom injectors, and i'm having Jared at CPW Make the basemap for me.
So you basically answered my 1st question in that the 2.2L pump is not sufficcient. However, How do you get the Walbro pump in? Does it have to be Jerry Rigged? It's not plug and play? I've noticed Walbro doesn't make a pump directly for the s10.
Also, about the hoses/lines... Do the "quick-disconnects" plug right into the Vette fuel rail?
I'm keeping the stock vette regulator.

Yes they make one for the s10. Look on Ebay under syclone or typhoon. If you need a link i can help. I know these are for the older gen ones. You can do the fuel your way!! The adjustable is not inconsistant. This will help the tuner to get the 60# injectors to be tweaked in better. If your tuner is doing a base map without boost referenced fuel, so be it. With the 60# injectors, you are capible of feeding 550hp at the crank with 43.5psi.

i looked under syclone and typhoon, i only found a Glovebox? haha.
i'm thinking i'm going to be using a Walbro 255lph pump. I've used them before and never had a problem. I've never heard of the HP pumps though, is that a brand? or just stand for "high pressure"?
I'm only looking for around 500hp at the wheel, so 550 crank should be ok.
43.5psi is the Vette's Fuel Pressure Regulator? or the s10's?
Also, the thing i really wanted to know is if the Quick-Disconnect lines hook right up/ are they the same size?

Not sure on the stock pressure for the LS1. I know the LT1 is 43.5psi. The pump, yeah HP is high pressure. It is capible of more volume.

This is still only capible of 500 boosted HP.

The sizes that are normal is 3/8" supply and 5/16" return. That may hold you back on fuel delivery.
hes right he doesnt need a boost referenced regulator for EFI, IF you run a stand alone fuel management system like FAST, BIGSTUFF, etc. You get a baseline pressure such as 60 psi and adjust injector pulse width for the tuning. Better get onboard with a good EFI tuner to get a baseline to start from.

I have friends who have dyno's and tune.
Friends w/ LS1 camaro's, GTO's that are running 42lb injectors and over 600hp n/a
So, neither of you chaps know if the stock lines clamp up to the quick disconnect lines??

you cant basemap a boosted application on a stock pcm. 500rwhp is closer to 600hp at the crank. thats almost maxing out a 60lbs/hr injector. no the fuel lines dont mate. you have to modify the sending unit and lines in the tank. look at v8s10s.com he has a book on the LS1 swap that covers all this in detail. it like $20. if your using an after market PCM like motech or BS3 then dont worry about the AFPR but i dont trust anyones tuning that well. the concept is to use the stock pressure and let it rise 1lbs of fuel for each pound of boost. (1:1) with that type of power no one makes a unit that will fit the tank for an S10 and the stock vette pump wont cut it. you might be able to use the LS7 pump but you will have to do some reaserch on that. and as far as doinig 600hp N/A on 42s? i wont say your wrong but they are doing at a huge cost. 95% cycle duty or more. which will kill an injector very fast. your 60s are a good choice. but there are so many other things involved in the fuel system. at the very least you need a -6AN feed and return. if decide to exceed the 600rwhp mark ON BOOST you will need to jump to an -8AN feed and -10AN return.
