I just bought a manual steering box and I plan on installing it this weekend on my 2.8 s10. When I remove the PS pump, I will definitely need a shorter belt. my question is, anyone know the length serpentine belt I need? Truck also has factory air still on it.

I guess I could remove the power steering pump and wrap a string around the remaining pulleys and that would give me a fairly close measurement?

do the string thing and go to autozone, they have a tool to measure belt size you can use there

Today, after a looong weekend, I realized that my new project frame has a manual steering box, so I don't have to worry about fighting with that stupid power steering pulley. My questions is this.. will it makes any difference if I delete the power steering from the serpentine system and just get a shorter belt? This kind of just hit me when I saw the topic.

you just have to make sure the belt does not redirect and that the other appliances on that system are turning the correct direction.
