alright, well to start out im relativly new to the mini truck scene but about 3 yrs ago my pops bought an indy pace truck 93 chevy 1500 that had been rolled, well we did some work on the body, but it kind of went backseat to work we had going on, well he has since passed away and finishing the truck would be a big an kind of pointless project as i have no title an it was totalled.. so i had the idea of throwing in the drivetrain into a first gen s10, ive done a little research and it seems that 88 an up has a better rear end, and pre 95 the wiring is easier ( plus i like the square body style). im not an idiot when it comes to wrenching but i was wondering how much work an what direction should i head in to put this v8 and auto tranny into an s10? thanks a bunch guys

This JTR swap manual is a good source of info, but you can find a lot of info from this site, just search your topic in the forum. If you run into problems, there are a bunch of wrenchers on here that can get you an answer.

The swap should be pretty straight forward, what year S10 are you looking at, what will the intended purpose be, street, street/strip, or strip only.

The 8.5 S10 rear (I believe they started around 1995) is a straight bolt in and with a little work the F**d 8.8 explorer rear will work too, info for both are in the forum.

The 2nd gen and up trucks are more work wiring wise, especially if you elect to keep the EFI.

Welcome to S10v8.com! :icon_wave: Good Luck and ask away.

alright well your basics if you are swapping into a square body it will need 2.8 motor mounts you can buy those and swap into a frame that had 4.3.a set off manifold that will fit.or you can buy the swap headers that will fit around the s10 steering shaft ten thers alot more than that but thats a bsic must have list.but definetly use the search function helps a ton.and if your wanting to gain a understanding of the swap pick up the swap manual.it isnt a step by step but it gives you a idea of what you will need to do.
aother question is is this performance strip only or street and of corse what you have to swap into and what you drivline is.if you can swap a engine into a vehicle and have a patience at wiring you can handle it
