Greetings new to the forum and I have a question I hope some of you can answer.
first... I am building a 1953 chevy 5 window truck. i building the truck on the frame of a 1985 chevy s-10 4x4 truck. I plan to use the truck as my daily driver. i will be leaving it the stock height and running street ruck tires. the reason for the 4x4 is...well the truck was free and i thought a 4x4 would be nice to have for camping. I am going to run a small block chevy with a 700r4 bolted to the stock transfer case. going to use a clocking ring to get the transfer case above the torsion bar cross memeber.
the question is this, I currently have a good running 454 out of my old crew cab, fire wall concerns are obvoiusly not an issue in that i have so much engine compartment. will the stock s-10 frame, and i guess more importantly the stock s-10 axles and transfer case hold up to a stock 454?
Also, either way the small block or the big block i am assuming that i will need to change the springs?
thanks folks i look forward to your comments.
