well I just finished putting my 305 heads on my 350 and I have been driving it a round for around 75 miles to get them worked in and man I love those things they got better responds and better low end but as they say time will tell all so, I'll see how they go.
here's a couple pics of the motor.
Got'er all spiffed up ready fer the weekend, huh Harley?Looks good!Wish mine was that far along.Glad it runs good. Now go whoop up on some rustangs!(I know ya wanna)lol

why , i have to ask . they don't flow worth a darn , they only raise compression .

well I haven't notice the compression but it does run better, they say after 5000 rpm it dies but mine hasn't even seen that high of rpm and I have tried to but it too.

used to be a old go fast for a low budget motor , they are 58 or 54 cc's i used to use double humps i got 5 sets off craigslist for less then 200 a set , just to have . if you stay under 5000 rpm your okay . but on a flat top motor should put you to 11:1 compression , but remember 305 's were emission engines , choked , castrated small blocks .

I usually don't say anything about 305 heads because so many people on here bad mouth them all the time, I really don't care, I run 305 heads on every V8 I have ever built (7 or 8) with exception to an experimental 305 with 267 heads and crank I built and have never had a true 350 head that I liked, 1.94 intakes is as large a valve I have ever used and on the street I rarely need to wind it up to an RPM range where rice burners go... Harley have fun with your econo head change, the heads on my 355 are emissions design 305's that I found in a trash pile... (Free runnable heads) but I did a few modifications that I don't normally do for an every day driver engine, these were the large 64cc chamber small valve 305 heads like you would find on a 305 76 Nova, I had the intakes opened up to 1.94 and an unshrouding cut performed on the chamber wall, machined for screw in studs, machined for teflon guide seals, pocket port and gasket matched to the Edelbrock RPM intake and with an ignition that can handle 6 grand I don't have any problem going there If I needed to... It has been my findings studying several 350 heads next to 305 heads, the 305 heads have better exhaust ports that are wide open and several 350 heads I looked at had a big ridge running across the guide side of the port (top) that would restrict flow and I never used them because of that, one of those was an 882 off of a 400 sb, never could get my hands on a decent set of 350 heads anyway so I stick with 305's... I have to be careful about over revving anyway because in my 355 I'm running 4.030 Kieth Black flat tops on a 305 crank because it's a little lighter, to bad Crane went out of business I loved there 272/284 454/480 max velocity cam... OK, I will shut up now...

the 305 is a good low rpm head ..your valve size it maybe 1.84 then they small chambers whitch means good low end and more power ..the ports are the size of #624 casting heads ..its a easy way to gane some power ..i seen people run them with 2.02 ..the heads are good to 5000 ..they are very nice to have with mild cam and cruzer

WELL 355 I have to agree there is nothing wrong with the 305 heads, mine is a DD so I don't race it but I will do some nice burnouts like last night and I still didn't hit 5000 so I don't know but I think I have a good motor now.
